I have a 2004 corvette. I went with a carbon fiber hood from Carbon Creations. Now looking at ground effects and I see a fiberglass body kit by John Greenwood Designs and sold by Ecklers Corvette for around $1800.00. Is anyone familiar with this or have any other suggestions?
I am familiar with that kit. This is only my opinion but it is not very nice looking. It looks cartoonish and quite overdone, makes it look bulky and not sleek looking at all. I've seen only one car fitted with that kit and it looked terrible.
I've only saw pics of that kit installed none in person. Im not crazy about it. I personally wouldn't install it on my car but if that is something you like its your choice to buy it or not. Carbon Creationz makes some nice splitters and sideskirts. I have a C5R lip being delivered soon. That is my personal favorite splitter for thr C5.
I've seen a few in person that I could count total on one hand including a complete kit on a car I looked at some time back in Torch Red. It's an "older" body accent kit design, originally produced while the C5 was still in production. The striking feature of the full kit is it's rather bulky rear spoiler which features a somewhat polarizing design for some - you either think it looks great or absolutely terrible. In person it's an incredibly large piece.
Considering the relative cost of custom front and rear fascia designs from various vendors $1,800 is not ridiculous for the kit but it's essentially parts you'll attach to bodywork you already have. It's thus going to look as such; parts that are attached to OEM pieces.
The kit you're looking at isn't a Greenwood design at all. It's made by Mold Kraft in Florida. They use the Greenwood name because they also make a knockoff of the Greenwood C4 kits. Greenwood Corvettes is no longer in business, but when they were, their C5 aero kit was actually functional (Mold Kraft's isn't - not that many are these days) and looks nothing like MK's.
I will soon be installing a new front spoiler and side skirts. They are off at the painters right now. They are from Corvette Mods. The first pic is the spoiler the second pic is the side skirts.
sorry pics are so small you can check them out on their website.
Here's my suggestion--SHOP. There are plenty of specialty shops
that make ground effects. You need to look at racing applications.
If that is not your cup of tea-----------make your own. Later.
I bought a set of side skirts on e-bay (am I allowed to say that?) at a very reasonable price from C5west. Price was comparably inexpensive compared to most and they are fiberglass. Finish is fairly good and easily prepped for paint. I actually have left them unpainted since they are black. As far as front and rear spoilers I have Caravaggio products. A lot neater and sleeker compared to the kit you showed, IMO.

Just saw your post actually the front spoiler i bought from corvette mods was shipped from C5 West. Mine was definitely not inexpensive almost twice the price.
