What Started it For Me....

The soft top had never been up, the original tires were removed and stored (they didn't ride very well) and it had 12,500-ish miles on it. He always took care of it. Serviced it regularly and kept it clean just in case grandma got better.
I drove it once just to help him get it home from getting services. Base 283/'Glide. I was in heaven for a few minutes that day. I'm on my fourth Corvette now and may keep this one for a few years. I've owned a bunch of old cars and muscle cars over the years but so far my 2002 Z06 is hard to beat in regards to pure ownership and driving pleasure.

Still have the first one I ever purchased, a '67 euro export roadster with both tops. Wife and I drove the car on our honeymoon Oct 1977. Lucky enough to still have both firsts.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Never had the kind of money to buy a corvette. Until 1997 when I ordered a new c5, at the age of 45. Only regret, my Dad was not here to enjoy it with me.

My son has been in my car since he was born...

They are BOTH 2004 models.....

The first Corvette I saw was in 1960 when I was on the school bus in Tulsa, OK. It was a white convertible C2. Did not know what it was at the time as I was only about 9 years old, but thought it was cool.
The next Corvette I remember was a blue 1965 coupe that was spinning on a turret in the middle of the George Young Chevy dealership showroom in Midland, TX. I was in High School by then, but that Corvette sat there for sale for months as they we asking $5,000 for it!
My next memory was watching 3 new silver 1969 Stingrays going through downtown late at night on their way to Dallas - back then that is how they moved cars between dealerships here. They looked like 3 spaceships going through town.
But the "burn" started for me in 1971 when I saw a Steel Cities Grey 1971 sitting on the Don Crow Chevrolet used car lot in Lubbock, TX. I was in college then, and stopped to take a test-drive in it. THAT WAS IT!
Then next year I bought my first of several new Corvettes. I special ordered a 1972 Steel Cities Grey 454 loaded coupe for $6,125!!!
Here was that first Corvette 2 years later...
I think it was about 15 years ago. I was helping my father-in-law with his yard work business. He had me up on the top of this TALL house cleaning out gutters when I saw it a few driveways over - a white C5 with black interior. I'll never forget it - THAT'S when I got hooked.
Fast forward to today - that's exactly what I've been blessed to finally have.
