In 1955 living in a very middle/middle class neighborhood where almost all the cars were Fords and Chevs, the neighbor brought home a white brand new Corvette Vert. I thought it was a rocket ship. He let the neighborhood kids sit in it. I remember just looking at it for what it seemed an eternity. Fast forward to 1974 when I bought my 1964 vert auto dream car. I was in heaven. Sold it for the kids. They wanted a swimming pool. What fathers do for the family.

I saw my first 'Vette as a 13 year kid on the Naval base in Naples, Italy, a new '68 medium blue coupe. Asked my mom, "Wow, what is that?!?!?" She said that it was a Corvette and I could have one when I could pay for it, the insurance, and a pre-paid funeral!!!!! Been hooked ever since!! There were a lot of years between that day and my first 'Vette!!

I had been building car models for years before that. Was a gear head from birth!!

I was probably 9 or 10 when I really started noticing the Corvettes. Wanted one ever since, especially when I saw the '63 split window. Now nine Corvettes later, I still have a passion for them.

When I was around 16, I was delivering newspapers and saw this car. That's when I knew - one day, I will have a Corvette!

Like Vetteman Jack said, I was about 9-10 saw a 1969 go down the highway, it was green with side pipes and he was going oh so fast! The little antenna on the back, the spoiler made the car even look like a stingray. That was about 45 years ago and took me this long to get one!

I didn't have any special revelations, I was simply born with the "car gene". Corvettes were the epitome of American performance cars for a long time, so I always thought of buying one. I had a couple of neighbors, over the years, who owned 'Vettes, and I rode in them numerous times. It wasn't until the C-5s however, that I was A) able to fit comfortably in one, and at the same time, B) able to afford one.

My dad always had sports cars in our driveway. I always grew up dreaming of owning my own.

1977 Corvette - Silver Coupe, Auto
1981 Corvette - Silver Coupe, Auto
1986 Trans AM - Dark Red/Gold trim T tops Auto
1988 Corvette - Silver Vert, Black top, Auto
1967 Camaro - Red Vert, White top, SS/RS 350/295HP, 3 speed on the floor

He had a 1998 Corvette Coupe 6 speed on order but had a heart attack before taking delivery.

So as per my original plan... I worked my butt off and got my Corvette I always wanted. Just wish he was still around to see it.

And of course I'm trying to teach my son (11yrs old) all about cool cars too....

You guys got your dream car long before I got mine. I was in High School when they got my attention. Worked in my Dad's service station thru HS and there were two Vette's that were there a lot. One was a good friend who was older and he would clean on his red 62 all the time. The other was a 60 owned by a lady who had a business a within walking distance.

Anyway graduated from HS in 62 and after paying off two homes and several cars. I got my Corvette when I became 62. Strange how that played out. It took many years and my interest just seem to come and go and the time never seem right to have one. But now I have the red Corvette I always wanted.

The car that can make an old man feel young again.

Thanks to my dad's heavy foot I developed the need for speed early on. Seeing an early 60s Vette at a Chevy dealer started the dream. Then mid 60s during a vacation on Cape Cod my parents were house hunting and the realtor gave me a ride in his 60 something Vette with the top off or down. Like many, family and home financial priorities kept me from fulfilling my dream till age 62. I had always felt Vettes were so out of reach price wise until I started surfing the net for them. Wish I had started sooner, but I'm one happy Vette owner now. Is there much else that can surpass that on the bucket list? I think not!

My dad helped me work on my first cars. He liked cars but was not really a strong mechanic even though he was a mechanical engineer.

Some of his friends had some nice cars. One had a Sunbeam Tiger and another had a '67 Corvette. The Corvette is what I really liked. He bought a new Corvette every year. In '68 he bought a red 427 4 speed car. He taught me to drive a stick in that car and I have been hooked since.

Our generation grew up with the passion for Vette's and cars. There's just not an interest in cars by most now like it was with us. Lot of the younger guys think the Vette is old man's car too.

Mine started when I was very young. My dad has always been into cars, as long as they had a bowtie on them (the only kind, right?). So it was pounded into my head growing up that if it wasn't a Chevy it wasn't worth owning. Mom and Dad have two corvettes that they've owned since I was a young child, a 59 and 75 both verts.

My whole family had muscle cars and my dad always wanted a camaro. Me on the other hand, had seen a stingray that a friends dad had owned and I have been a vette fan ever since. After saving for 4 years, last June i was able to purchase my dream car. I bought a 2004 le mans blue corvette convertible. All cash, no loan. Was suppose to be my 30th birthday gift but due to a career change was pushed back a year.
