Hi folks, just letting you know that I'm seeking either a late C4 or early C5. My budget is limited and I have to adhere to the numbers. I was wondering if anyone is in the Laurel, MD. area. There's a green C5 there that I like the looks of but 3 1/2 hours is not just a quick run. It's at a Kia dealer there. I've been in correspondence with the sales rep, but as expected he won't commit to negotiating over email, and I'm not ready to fight with him over the phone until since I'm just starting my search and want to see more local cars first.
If anyone happens to have any info, please sing out!
Fairway Green with oak interior is a rare combo, especially with a 6 speed. I'd say it's worth at least $15000. Offer $14000 and go from there, assuming the car is in good shape and doesn't need any major expense.

Does look pretty nice, at least in the pics. You might try contacting someone in that area from this thread and see if they will take a look at the car for you.

I love Fairway green!! Appears to have the 3LT interior group with memory package, if that appeals to you. I would also assume that it also means that it has the 2.73 gears which I have had before and was very, very unhappy with (can you say,Corvette that accelerates like a Chevette?!?!?!?) Unless it has the Z51 suspension package, plan on a gear swap to get any real performance!
You can start by searching the craigslist for your local area. I did a quick search on NYC and Philly, saw several that were really nice for less $$. A lot of the fun is in the search. Decide what you'd like and start searching for it.. DON'T SETTLE. Get what you want. GL with your choice. And remember, you have involved us now, so you gotta post some pics when you get it!!

The car looks very nice though.

I think that's a misprint. I don't think the manual came with the 2.73.

I knew I forgot something! I always hated the search, but I'm trying real hard to grow up and follow the policy you stated so well. Oh, and there will be pix!
You should be able to deal with these guys a little bit. I work about 30 minutes from there. Although not sure I can get over there next week. I bought my 50th Anniversary about six months ago for $19K, so $14-15K looks good to me for a car with similiar milage as mine.
I like the color combination and with the six speed it will still scoot good! I will try to make time after work one night next week to go check it out. No promises though.
Agree with many of the above comments, it's expensive. For that kind of money, get into a car a couple years newer and avoid the sparing difficulties with the early cars - like ECBM's and steering wheel sensors. Seems to me a '98 coupe ought to be around $10-12k, or less if you are lucky.
Criswell has an 04 for slightly more than that 98 with the same miles. FYI
Criswell seems to be a big dealer.
I drove 2 C4's today, a rough 94 with 125k miles and a very nice 92 with 25k. I was disappointed more in the 92 than the 94. The 94 actually rode better, even tho' the rest of it was a mess. Neither had the scoot my Z had. Seems that the C4's ride too hard for me, tho' I am looking for a 96 just to compare. I do like the cockpit and seat, however.
I am leaning on coming back to a C5, and I'm heeding all the advice given here. A close friend said to 2000 and up.
Seems that high mileage might be a reality. I'm not in a rush, but as you all know, it's exciting to own a Corvette!
Here are 2 on Long Island and one in Ct., opinions would be appreciated!
Just my opinion...
I've had a ton of Corvettes over the years. As an owner of an '01 and an '11 my suggestion is to buy within your budget. Not what you can afford, what you want to pay. Big difference.
C5s are a hot deal if you look around...yours is out there.
