I feel like I got a new and better car today. The difference is that dramatic.
no problem, glad you got it fixed and it was something simple... we all make mistakes so as long as you learn from them then there's no harm and now you can enjoy that shifter... if you read through that other thread I'm still not sure what the heck caused it to strip the threads in the middle of that bolt where it engages the shift rod... I'm going to replace it with a stainless bolt from the hardware store and hope that it doesn't happen again... when the bolt had stripped it felt sloppy like you described

Those bolts are not hardened material. Very soft feeling.

I just ordered some m8x1.25x25mm 10.9 grade steel flange bolts to replace the ones in the shift box and shift rod, hopefully those won't give me any problems lol... the factory bolts are 27mm long which is an odd size, 25mm is the closest I could find unless I bought another stock bolt which I didn't want to do... 25mm should be fine because the bottom of the factory bolts is rounded to help you get the threads started and it protrudes a bit from the bottom of the shift rod once fully tightened

Let me know how they work out. I'd be interested in doing the same or similar.

I bet you just needed to tighten that clamp. That did it for me. Feels amazing now.

It was absolutely 100% user/installer error. It was my fault. I could not be happier with the shifter and I have recommended it to many. No one should have any reservations about the design or quality of this product or with the customer service. George himself called to try and help me. We missed each other and I figured it out before we connected but he was responsive and willing to help in every way. This is an absolutely top shelf product and top notch company.

well I made a stupid mistake, I used an online parts catalog for the measurements on the stock bolt since I didn't have it with me at the time and that measurement is m8x1.25x27mm but what that doesn't tell you is the 27mm is exposed thread and it doesn't account for the rounded tip at the end of the bolt which adds another 8mm to the overall length, 35mm total... the ones I ordered were 25mm and a couple of threads grab the shift linkage but I don't feel comfortable with it like that so I'm either going to order 30mm bolts of the same type or try to find some at a hardware store... the bolts I ordered from fastenal are really nice and not expensive, a little over $1 each, but the shipping is nearly $10... if I can't find some nice bolts at the hardware store I will just get them from fastenal again... having to deal with parts guys on a daily basis and knowing how they always trust what the computer says and not what you have in your hands and then I do what I did it makes me feel like a doofus... here's a comparison of the stock bolt vs the 10.9 grade steel bolt

wellll, I knew these bolts I bought from fastenal looked awfully familiar... after doing some research I found out that the oem exhaust manifold bolts are m8x1.25x30mm and 10.9 grade, exactly what I was about to buy... I don't have any extras but a couple of buddies at work should have some so I'm going to try this out

I confirmed that header bolts will work perfect so that's what I'm going to use to replace that pinch bolt at the shift linkage to shift box

Glad you got it fixed. I recently added a new shaft and C6 **** to my MGW shifter. The C6 **** ended up a littler taller than my old ball setup and it seems to have reduced shift effort by a decent amount. I always liked the MGW before, but now it feels perfect with the new handle.

I have a C6 **** that's threaded for C5 applications. 9/16" I believe. Twists on.

Matches the interior perfectly, even though it looks much lighter in the picture. Typical cell phone camera.

Which style MGW do you have? New or old? I have one for the new style that I can't use. If you have the old style, like I do, you can call them directly to get what you need. It's fairly inexpensive and worth it. If you happen to have the new style I'll make you a good deal

It's the newer one with lower box but was ordered with the soft threaded for C5 *****
