Default First Mod? Long tube headers? maybe

Hey I'm new to the forum and I'm wondering what i need to keep in mind when doing this. My 04 c5 corvette is pretty much stock except it has a corsa exhaust on it.

I was looking into putting a 1 3/4 inch long tube header into my car. Maybe a Hookers or a pacesetter one. Would i need to invest into anything other than the headers themselves?

Thanks in advance! I hope i put this into the right forum haha

I would get a complete LT header system, which would include the headers, x-pipe and cats, and the O2 extensions. You should also budget money for a good tune on the car to get the most out of the header install.

Are those stainless steel?
I personally would recommend American Racing Headers.
And also, you like loud? Because you're going to get it..be prepared.

You will also need a dyno tune to take full advantage of the increased flow...well worth the investment, I recently did the same mod and couldn't be happier.

I just did LT with catted X-pipe on my car. I too had a Corsa catback exhaust prior to the header install and it sounded pretty good already. However, adding the headers was a nice improvement. I had the car dyno tuned as well and it really woke it up. The sound is basically the same as before, just a little louder with a deeper tone. Sounds really good, and the car pulls much harder. As stated above, be sure to budget for the tune.

First mod I did was a shifter, bought a C6 shifter to install in place of the less than stellar factory one (still have it if you're interested in a cheap easy mod) but ended up with a Core Hurst shifter with the changeable handle, very happy with the price and improvement it gave, my last mod was a B&B PRT catback which continues to make me smile every time I drive it!

gears are always a good mod,but expensive, this winter I really wanted to go with 4.10 's I have a 99 with a 6 speed, can't use 6th below 74 or so. So with the gears I would improve the performance and still have nice rpm's at highway speeds !!!

Default And so it begins...

Modding these cars is a joy, because they respond so well to them when well thought out.

I've been down this road a few times, including twice with Vettes. Leveraging the forum for suggestions is a good idea with one caveat. You really need to define what your end objective is, and then leverage the forum for suggestions on brands, sequences, etc to help accomplish that objective.

If your car is a daily driver, then an all out effort car is probably not on your radar. If it's a weekend warrior for autocross, dragstrip, etc, your path will change significantly as well. Define what you want to do with the car first and foremost, and you will save yourself a lot of dollars and disappointment. Fail to do that, and you may find yourself a victim of whomever is either the most persuasive or has the best advertising.

Most, if not all, of us have made a few steps backwards or sideways that could have been avoided if we had begun with the end objective in mind.

For my money on a daily driven car, I'd do Long Tube Headers, Cold Air Intake, 3.42 gears, and a solid Dyno Tune from a reputable shop. In my experience, nothing wakes the car up more than gearing.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride. What a Blast!!!

Just noticed you have a manual, so 3:42's are out.
