Default Scared SH******

So I purchased a 03 z and am going to pick up with my car trailer and truck this week. I asked my friend who has a 02 z for track car where to strap down and he said through the wheels, dont do the suspension. I don't like this idea because my wheels are powdercoated and i don't feel comfortable putting a towel between strap and rim and having tie down move and rub color off rims. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am so nervous about putting straps in right location which wont affect and cosmetics or mechanical stuff. Thanks for the help in advance.

Why not just drive it home? Problem solved.

If a towel (or a strap) damages your powdercoat, it's not powdercoat.

I move a LOT of cars on my trailer, and most of the time, I strap them through the wheel.

Buy or borrow frame T-hooks that fit in the slots in the frame. Goof proof and cheap. Northern tool is where I got mine. That's how GM ships these cars as I recall.

I agree with AZhitman....just use a microfiber towel around the strap and you won't have any issues with marring your wheels. I've used J hooks, over the top of the tire straps and straps through the rims...if done correctly all are good safe options.

Don't over think strapping down the car....it doesn't have to be super duper tight to be transported safely.

This is how I strap mine and the only way I would do it.

I put axle straps on the front lower control arms and go straight forward.

On the rear I put the strap itself through the lower control arm with a rag on the arm then take the hook back to the trailer. Tighten it down, set park brake and put in gear.
