Default Help with Titanium Exhaust question please

Hi,
I've been looking for a Titanium exhaust, axle back and a very nice gentleman has offered me a free one but it was cut and he lost the pieces.

Here is the post https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1591660591

I've got a ti catback that came off my car. Unfortunately I had to cut the over the axle pipes to remove it due to ground clearance on the removal. I've since lost those over the axle pieces. However, if you want to drive down here to SC and pick them up, you can have the rest of the exhaust. Absolutely free. They are just taking up space in my garage. Mufflers and tips are in good condition. Just cut them a few inches away from the mufflers in the over the axle pipes.
Could you guys tell me what needs to be done to this exhaust? I've heard that it is difficult to weld a Titanium and many shops can't do it or won't touch it.

How would you tackle this? It's a 4-5 hour drive to go pick this up. So I want to be sure that I can use it. I have asked him for pictures and will post them as soon as I get them. Any tips/advice?

Kind regards

Numerous guys have had the "bypass" done on these exhausts, so they can be welded. You need to find someone willing/capable of doing it.

Good Luck!

Hit my Boy RJ's custom piping in Raleigh up. He can weld them for you. He does ALOT of the High end Hotrods around here and from the Surrounding states. Hes also done every Exhaust on any car Ive owned plus all my intercooler pipings. But your task is going to be to find some titanium tubing and itll need to be bent correctly and welded to fit. Ron can do this as he has a mandrel Bender and all. No idea how much Ti piping cost though. Let me know if you need the number.

You will probably pay more in Ti piping and fab than it would cost to just buy complete units.

He said it was a cat back and from what I could gather from his description, the axle part is missing. You think from cat-back section, that piping could be used? I guess we need to wait on the pics to make a better determination.

"Just cut them a few inches away from the mufflers in the over the axle pipes." I would call that mufflers basically. If you want it done correctly your gonna need ti piping in the same size as stock. Or you could just get him to bend regular pipes and just clamp them to the Mufflers.

Regular pipes can be welded to titanium? If so, that would solve the problem and would be the cheapest way to go. I'm not going after weight savings, rather trying to get the original, quieter sound.
