No guts, no glory: You have the golden opportunity to be the 1st, and maybe the most horsepower of all that dyno stock 03 Z06's. For the paltry price of a bill, you can lead the way. I am dying to know. Somebody has to be the 1st. I do not even have enough miles on my '02 quicksilver Z06 to dyno it . But it's turn is coming.
Thanks in advance
Gary Wells
"TOLTK"
I dyno'd my 03 with about 600 miles last week. It did 346.6 horsepower and 339 lb/ft torque. After the breathless intake it did 353 and 342 torque. I've been told that if I would have driven around the block at WOT before the run after the intake was fitted the computer would have learned and put down more.
I now have 1000 miles so it should be more. I plan on doing it this week to see if the intake was worth it.

I just had my bone stock 02 done with 7000 miles on the car and it pulled 347.0 hp and 332.2 max torque SAE corrected. Sounds like you are right in line and might pick up a few horses with break in.
In terms of your WOT run, I don't believe that is the case because WOT doesn't use the oxygen sensor to adjust fuel mixture and runs rich anyways from the factory. Your intake would slightly lean the mixture giving you more power without the computer needing to 'relearn'. In part throttle applications, I do agree the computer will learn as you drive it some.
I don't know if our Z06s would gain as much because the exhaust is already less restrictive but a friend with a 99 coupe also went on the rollers the same day and scored 315 rwhp with only a K&N style intake and Borla stingers. That is about 25 hp over stock... Just food for thought.
Uh - I've been away a few days. What thread claims that the 03, with no mechanical changes from an 02, is "stronger". And BTW comparing using different dyno's isn't worth the money IMO. Use the dyno to baseline yur car, check hpw mods are working and tune the car. Just enjoy the car!

PS: MOst dyno's here have 3 pulls for $50.00 on a dyno day, otherwise $75 is the going rate.

I disagree here if you are saying the computer cannot learn at WOT. I watched an '02 Z06 gain 23rwhp in 4 back to back dyno pulls after an airbox install. It never came off the rollers. The owner admitted that he doesn't flog the car at all. We literally watched the car add more fuel on its own during each run to compensate for the new airbox.

Interesting, were you actually watching the fuel measurements on a computer or just infering that more fuel was being added in response to MAF inputs because of the extra horses? Because the computer will not respond to O2 sensor feedback in WOT mode as far as I know so it must be reading more air in the MAF and learning to expect that. Also, you mention a 23 hp increase, what was the baseline and new max value for those pulls? Just curious where it started and ended.
Oh, and what was the intake? I have an 02 Z06 and would consider an intake if someone could document a 23 rwhp gain!

We were watching the actual wideband O2 readings as the car was on a Dynojet. The car was running way too lean becuase of the intake (i wish I could remember what one it was :(). With each successive pull the car added a little more fuel.

I honestly forget what it was. I don't mean the car made like sweet like 380hp or anything like that with just an intake. It actually dyno'd a low I think mid 320s being too lean from the intake the first time. It got into the high 340s by the last pull. The owner still needed some more fuel curve work as it was still off a bit. There was more potential.
The #s themselves were not impressive, in fact almost stock..... but watching the computer itself adjust was awesome.
