Default Brake rotor question...need help ASAP!

EDIT: Solved the problem in post #8

I read that several people have put the C5 z06 front rotors on the rear, with addition of the front C5 z06 calipers. So, I ordered two OEM C5 z06 front calipers and two Stoptech OEM size front rotors. Went a mechanic to have the parts installed and he said the Stoptech front rotors won't work on the rear. Why would an OEM C5 z06 rotor fit on the rear and the Stoptech in OEM size won't mount correctly?? He said it has something to do with the inside of the rotor. I would think, no matter what the make, they all have to fit the same. I'm sure I have the right part numbers. Any idea?

I've never done that swap personally but I would assume it has something to do with the parking brake, front rotors don't have provisions

I'm not sure what your particular issue is, but I runStoptech big brakes on both ends of my 04 Z06, and have NO problems. I have 14" rotors on all 4 corneers, with ST60 fronts and ST40 rear claipers. please DO call Stoptech for advice. http://www.stoptech.com/

Front rotors won't fit on the rear with the parking brake assembly in place no matter whose rotors or what calipers you use. Rear rotors have about an 1 1/4" inset for the brake which the fronts don't have.

Not that hard and you'll save at least 10lbs. Without a parking brake for the street, it's not that convenient.

This is what you want. Really, it's just for looks.

Yes.
Thanks, Steve. I ended up ordering C6 Z51 rear rotors and I'm having a machine shop mill the front C5 caliper brackets for clearance. I will get to keep the parking brake. Should look great wit the C5 Z06 front calipers in the rear with C6 Z51 rotors.
