It's been almost 9 months since Wayne Wonders last post on this EBCM Reverse Engineering Idea.
What ever happened to this project ?
I actually gave up on this project. I just stopped in to see if anything happened since I have been away. I couldn't get my hands on even a broken module and decided that without owning a C5 or having additional support, I am just wasting my time.
After further research and reading. The only way to approach this problem is a ground up replacement design, This involves knowing all of the connections and the format of the data going in and out. After the data stream from the sensors is understood, then hundreds of data logs would have to be taken from an OEM unit and from the logs software would have to be created for the new module so the sensor input matches the desired output. It is definitely doable 1's and 0's are 1's and 0's, unless they are encrypted, which would be the nail in the coffin.
I wish you all the best of luck in this journey. Maybe somewhere there is a C5 owner that happens to be a software engineer and willing to take on the task. IMO the community would have the best luck crowd funding a C5 and giving the project to a university or contracting the R&D. Kickstarter or open source would also be an option, but again unlimited access to a car is needed. Looks like I will have to keep saving for my 3rd gen stingray, but at least the braking system will work properly.

What are your qualifications to take on such a task? I have one, maybe two, but want to know chances of success and how I might benefit and a way to monitor your progress or lack thereof. As you must know it's the potted component that is now considered unrepairable and which most often fails (TCS NO COMM).The ones I have are 2001 -2004. The failed ones I have are both result of high power battery charger connected. As you can tell I am interested in this project.
Who cares what his qualifications are? I don't care if he's a grade school janitor. If he's interested enough to try to fix it then that's enough qualifications for me. I know college grads that can barely read and write. Check that, barely read and can't write!
I know nothing about software or anything designing what goes into a computer boards. What I do know is what corporate bulling is all about and I have been successful challenging one just as big as GM. Would someone especially one of our used parts dealers donate what Wayne Wonder needs to explore his offer to try and find a work around. Just do not understand why our use parts vendors have not communicated with him and come to some agreement.
