Default Missing Lugnuts

I drove 3 hours today to pickup a set of base C6 wheels for my C5 FRC. Unfortunately, the seller forgot the lugnuts at home (he also drove 2-3 hours to meet me halfway so he wasn't close to home). He's going to mail the lugnuts to me but if for some reason I never get them, what are my options? It's not good to use my C5 wheel lugnuts, right? Would I find some at a Autozone type place?

i don't see why you cant use your C5 lug nuts, they are made for stock wheels, and C6 is a stock wheel so should be perfectly fine

The seller (a Corvette Forum member) works for a well known tire manufacturer and he said it's best to only use lugs that come with the wheels which is why he insists on sending me the C6 lugnuts. I'm glad he's willing to send them, I just had major plans this weekend to get the wheels on the car and finally get to driving it, so I'm interested in my options.

Lug Nuts are Lug Nuts, nothing special about them. As long as the fit your studs they will work.

He was just trying to sell you the lugs to make a few bucks, They are not necessary.

The only time you need different lug nuts is when you go with an aftermarket wheel , at least that's been my experience

Nothing wrong at all with using the lug nuts from your C5 for the C6 wheels. And those lug nuts are actually not Corvette-specific; the same type of nuts are used on a variety of GM cars that require a 12x1.5 size and a 60 degree taper.

If you want to use an aftermarket lug nut, both Gorilla and McGard have a variety of sets that will fit and they also have matching locking lugs.

So don't rush it if you're so worried, although it shouldn't be a problem to use the C5 lugnuts, but then you've got to swap out the lugnuts when you get them next week, and that's just extra work.
This.

Makes no sense to me. I pull my wheels at least a dozen times a season and I've changed to new lugs numerous times.

Aftermarket C6 wheels. My original lugs and covers. Just haven't gotten around to ordering new ones. Work just fine.
