There are DOZENS of different shifters on the market.. Anyone that has XXX Shifter is going to say its GREAT! Cause they LIKE IT. Its BETTER than the POS OEM offering.

Until you sit in the drivers seat of a C5 with a different shifter, you will be AGONIZING over choosing the ONE FOR YOU.

Love my MGW with new lower box. A very well engineered piece they include a complete package with sound deadening an extras. As some just said its not just a stick and ball on a lever. Also have Amsoil torque drive fluid, Anti-venom mod, Ranger method to clean out the clutch fluid. Very smooth and precise after a few hundred miles. Worth it yes. Don't know about the others heard good things about c6 z06 and others as well.

100% agree with you my friend. I love my b&m because it feels like a gated shifter. You literally snap into gear, no doubt about it.

I just picked up an older style B&M ripper and I love it. Completely transforms the car, but it's really, really short and notchy. Not for everyone.

I just upgraded from the original MGW Shifter with the OEM Lower Box to the new MGW Shifter with the MGW Lower Box.

All I can say is WOW!!! Huge improvement and I highly recommend it. The new setup has the "ease" of the OEM Shifter, along with the precision and short throw that the MGW has always been known for. I love it!!

Plus, George and his team deliver exceptional customer service!

I just looked at installation videos of putting shifter in. My friend who is a 20 year + GM technician is going to put it in for me. ABout how long do you think it will take him to install? He will be doing it at his house not at the dealership.

If he is GM certified and familiar this is an hour and a half job. Max. Once the console is out, (20 minutes ) installation should not take more than 30 minutes, and then reinstall... ( 20 minutes. If you bet a certified GM Tech 500 dollars to do this install in 45 minutes, you would be out 500 dollars

Put in Hurst and hate it. Anti-venom with 2 washers maybe helped a very little bit. Have fresh Amsoil

I think I'm going your route with the MGW.

thanks. Bruce Wiley

I think the set up to go is amsoil fluid in transmission + anti venom mod + mgw shifter = super crisp shifting. But like others noted find a few other vette owners and see if theyve made the switch to try out.

Hates a strong word . When you installed the hurst shifter did you realign the shifter and the box? If so ignore the following paragraph. aka you removed the 3 bolts holding the lower box to the torque tube and put the alignment pin to align the bolts. I believe anytime you install a shifter you should realign the shifter, if your shifter box bushing are toast this may not help(z06 excluded came with bronze bushings from 01-08.) This vid shows how the alignment is done.
I know theirs a pic around here showing its instructions, make sure you use blue loctite on the bolts, and torque them to 22ft/lbs

Also what is the state of your clutch master cylinder? The reason I ask is because when it starts to fail shifting becomes even notchier(I learned the hard way), I hate the fact these cars never came with a remote bleeder for the clutch mc/slave, fresh fluid keeps the seals from failing and the pedal pressure intact and moderate.

If you do go with the mgw shifter make sure you get a different shift kn0b the stock one is crap, I have the mgw race **** on the threaded c5 handle, and I also have a c6 shift kn0b on the c6 handle. Both kn0bs are a step above the stock turd, I love the race kn0b but it feels weird on downshifting. The c6 kn0b feels better on downshifting and on upshift but just feels weird in the hand( i switch between them), 3 of my friends all have c5s one with a mgw and the other two with different shifters all have c6 ***** they prefer the c6 kn0b they tell me I'm weird because I find it weird. Up to you if you want to get an extra handle I would if curiousity ever hits you about shifting comfortably.
