Depends on which BMW you were driving, it may be a little jealous.

I wanted to post were a few words of encouragement, that's about the top end of my corvette repair skill set.
In reading here, many owners of a 98 feel these cars are less trouble prone, being overbuilt in an attempt to avoid a bunch of first year electrical problems . I have read posts from experienced owners who have sought out these cars for those reasons. Of course, I have no personal experience with the worth of these statements. I do know some times it is best to walk away , it's just a machine, one among many, and it is eating money without end.
My singular experience means little, I had a broken clip in the run part of the ignition circuit , found by a dedicated corvette garage, after the ignition switch was replaced by a " chevy specialist" garage. I was asking everyone I saw where they took their corvette, most used "the dealer". I never asked which one. I have two local dealers, one asked $130 bucks for a spare key, but it is more local. The other , better one, that had corvettes swinging from cranes over the lot, now says KIA on the sign.
Most independent shops have no experience with C5s and the ones around here don't even want to work on them. The local dealership has a couple Corvette specialists, all the tools and manuals needed and the expertise to do the job. They are competitively priced, warranty their work and make sure the customer is satisfied. I know some dealerships give all of them a bad name but the one in town is about as good as you can get.
There are no Corvette specialty shops in this area and I have been screwed too many times by the independents..
I agree 100%. There are more worse independents out there than there are dealerships. They use OEM instead of aftermarket parts and are usually pretty reputable. One thing for sure is that you can scream a lot louder at the dealer and get results. Fortunately for me I've never had to scream at my dealer, they've always done right by me.
Also the techs are trained and have GM tech support at their disposal.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family.

so after pulling and clearing the codes like some had suggested the problem went away, that's strange... if that same code keeps popping back up you need to troubleshoot the tac module, it is located next to the pcm behind the passenger fender
