Most independent shops have no experience with C5s and the ones around here don't even want to work on them. The local dealership has a couple Corvette specialists, all the tools and manuals needed and the expertise to do the job. They are competetively priced, warranty their work and and make sure the customer is satisfied. I know some dealerships give all of them a bad name but the one in town is about as good as you can get.
There are no Corvette specialty shops in this area and I have been screwed too many times by the independents..
I agree 100% --
my trusted "local dealer" is 60 miles away.

I don't think Bill was being rude at all, he is just trying to help as always... to be honest I think some are being extra nice because of your avatar but that's beside the point... if you want help you have to give us info otherwise it's just a shot in the dark... saying that the shop(s) checked everything isn't much help, and if they did in fact check everything then the issue should be fixed... there are PLENTY of good and knowledgeable performance shops in dfw that specialize in ls based cars so that's where I would go if the dealership comes up short

Not sure where you are but my statement was to the OP, who is in the Dallas area - where there are a number of indie shops that specialize in LS/corvettes.
Not all dealerships are "stealerships" but a reputable LS shop would be a way better place to bring a C5 than the far majority of dealership service centers. But your local dealership might be the exception
Boy, unknown electrical gremlins can be an incredibly frustrating pain in the rear end! I'm certainly no electrical guru, but as forum members we all have access to some incredibly talented people who are more than willing to give their time and pass their knowledge along. Were I in your position, I would think that Bill Curlee's suggestion makes the most sense, cost effective and quick, and if it doesn't fix the problem it will eliminate another possible. Hope you get your problem solved soon and best wishes to you!

I live in western Wisconsin. If we had a Corvette shop around here I would definitely check it out. Over the years I have used almost all the local shops in town and have found the GM dealer to do the best work at about the same price and they always make sure I am satisfied. They have several guys that have a lot of experience with Corvettes.
Really? That doesn't sound right. My Electronic Brake Control Module went bad, but it did not effect how it ran, just anything that had to do with ABS. Keep us posted.
The EBCM has NOTHING to do with the car cutting out or missing, they are feeding you a line of BS. A new EBCM is $1200 from the dealer, plus labor will be over $2K and it will not fix your problem.....
Bring the car to Texas Speed or Pat G or one of the many, many well respected Texas performance shops!

Then what is it doing exactly? Post a video of exactly what is happening. I seriously doubt it's related to your EBCM as people drive their car with bad ones. If it was related, it would already be a known problem as EBCM issues have been discussed thoroughly on here.
Even with that said, how are they planning to fix or replace the EBCM since the one in your car isn't repairable and new ones are no longer available unless you're lucky enough to find new old stock or a working used one? I believe you mentioned your car was a 98. If the dealer has a source on these plenty of people on here would be interested in contacting them.
All I know is that im being told the EBCM has an issue some code pulled on it everything else has been checked as far as I'm concern the damn thing can catch on fire bc its a POS and im sick of putting money into it

You should probably sell it. It's not worth the stress.
