C5 Final Design Update
I have literally spent 90 to 100 hours designing this cars body kit to get it just right.
This pic accurately shows what I'm trying to do with my car. There was a lot of debate on my other pics of the design. I appreciate all the feedback. This however, is the final design and nothing will be changed. We played with the front end dimensions enough to avoid having to put the cooling slot in the lower fascia. We have canned the custom fog light idea, They would simply be too difficult to make. Thanks again to all the members of the forum for making this place such an information rich environment for all of us Corvette Enthusiasts! Cheers Everybody

I second the notion to ditch the BSMs. with all the effort you are putting in on the rest, these are a bit of an eyesore.
This car looks very good as it is !!

Half of the Vettes I see with them taken off have been damaged or show paint issues under the BSM. Some took them off and then tried to reattach them with less than perfect results (wavy). I just like the way they look as they sit. Cheers everybody

Remember the old days when they'd put flat black rubber BSMs on cars. UGHHH.. Those I'd ditch
I am not the only one who doesn't like the BSM. If the OP likes it, it's fine.

As for the BSM, that was one of the determining factosr when I went shopping for my 04.
It had to have BSM.
To me, it adds a lot to the look of the car, and those without it look like they are missing something in design.
I think it just gives the car a more racier look.
It looks like it is in motion, even while parked.
When searching for a convertible, my first, and what I thought would be my only color consideration, was yellow.
Sadly I couldn't find a yellow 04 with automatic that was in my price range.
When the deal came by for the magnetic red I finally purchased, I couldn't refuse.
The price was far below market value, and the car was as good as brand new.
Low miles, and well maintained by the previous owner..
I have grown to "like" the mag red, but when I see a yellow, especially one as beautiful as yours, I still feel that yellow tugging at my heart strings.
I especially like the chrome wheels on your vette.
They compliment the yellow.
Bob.

1. Is it necessary to start a new thread every other day on this?
2. Would a negative criticism of the front end be unwelcome? Is this a space solely for "lovers"?

The body design on the lower rockers, front fascia and rear bumper will make my car appear to be lower than it actually is.
The car is actually going to be lowered only 1" on Eibach bolts.
This was thought out ahead of time. I wanted the lowered look without the lowered ride quality. Trade off is the name of the game, take here, give there and settle in the middle somewhere. The bigger wheels and tires also help this scenario with the lowered panels without dropping the suspension into the rough ride zone. Mine will also use an aftermarket shock to compensate for the lost 1" of shock travel. The last thing I want is a car that bottoms out. That usually means broken parts down the road. The swooped areas on the corners are dropped 3.5 inches. the middles of the panels are dropped gradually 2 to 2.75 inches respectively. This is being done through fiberglass/composite fabrication. My basic idea was to take the already beautiful C5 lines, beef them up and make them lower. Sounds simple but was and still is technically difficult as special brackets and fasteners need to be made to complete the job correctly.
I believe the C5 BSM's are some of the finest looking OEM moldings ever put on a car. In my opinion it adds protection and looks. I will not take them off. They provide the midline rake the car needs.
When I went out looking for the right C5, it had to be Millennium Yellow. I have experienced color envy way to many times in my car buying life. I would want a certain color, settle for another, then I'd wished I had waited. Since I waited for so long to purchase a C5, I held out until a yellow one was found and passed up quite a few great cars to get to the one I have now. Color is completely subject to personal taste though. I think ALL C5's are beautiful no matter the color. For me a great C5 is first and foremost, well taken care of with great paint reflection and pride of it's owner. I have seen many magnetic red C5's that look amazing. Wheels seems to be even more important with the red shades. I wouldn't worry about the color of yours. You have a C5! That's all that matters. Look around at the next stoplight. You will likely have the best looking car there. Cheers Brother
