Somewhat envious of the Ferrari ownership, and yet fully understand how it would be a PITA to own. In all honesty, the one thing I do not like about owning a Corvette is all the attention. I just want a nice car.
Seriously, people spit on your car... wow.
Some loser in a silver C7 threw a cigarette butt at my 911 a few weeks back. I even gave him room to get in front of me and he repaid me by tossing it at my car. Made me furious.
Sadly, I can still see the average American spitting on a Ferrari because they don't want to work hard enough to own one. Some people just have no respect. I still aspire to own one, but I can't imagine leaving one in a random parking lot or parked on the street.
Honestly, this topic is just about enough for an entire website... what makes somebody hate another car or person who owns said car. It's a freaking car! Even if I think a car is hideous, to each their own with their taste. Damn, there are even people who like 911's!
Kidding aside, people are messed up. I drive my wife's mini-van regularly. Trust me; there's a night and day difference with how some people view Corvette's/nice cars (including 911's) and run of the mill vehicles. Sad.
There are people here who have a problem with putting on a supercharger, or washing at a car wash, has he not seen some of the wheel threads? I'm not really sure what he thought people where going to say when he claimed to know what all the Camaro enthusiasts wanted and how GM missed the mark because they fashioned it after a 69 instead of a 68! He really believes he knows better I guess. lots of egos here,,,but a big one just left.

I went to high school with a guy like him. Hopefully he grew up and realized he wasn't right about everything.
If you have a disagreement with 1 person, you stand a good chance of being right. If you find yourself being attacked by a mob, step back and review your stance. Pretty darn likely you're in the wrong.
Nah, Not throwing in the towel just yet but I am throwing in the towel on this forum. I think I'm just gonna moderate how much I'm going to do with the C5. Custom body work as originally stated and be done. Kit cars aren't really my thing but thanks for the suggestion. I never said the GM designers did a bad job on the C5. I said some things that they incorporated into the car were bad choices. RE Column lock,H Pipe, Interior quality, seats and seat positioning. The car as a whole is a decent car. Far from a supercar though. But for 18k, I got what I paid for. You guys sure like to twist my words to mount your assault against me. This must be the reason the general public views Corvette owners as Douchebags. I never would have dreamed to come onto a forum for a mature crowd car and hear the crap I've heard. You guys stick up for GM like they are paying you. They sold you a car, with inherent issues, some of which they never fixed, yet you fight for them. What I've learned real quick from the C5 crowd here on the forum is the only mods that are worthy are the ones that some of you have on your cars. So that makes them all right and everything I say is wrong. I insult the GM team. I this, I that. Seriously, the Mustang crowd was more mature than this. I'm not saying that everyone here is like this. I have met some great people. But I've also met some of the most egocentric, as a matter of fact type people I ever met in my life.
You know the seats are crap, you know the positioning of the seats is crap.
You know the column lock thing was bullcrap
You know the H pipe should have been redone
You know the stock shifter is crap
You know M6 transmissions sounds like rattle cans.
You know the interior is substandard quality.
You know this car throws too many codes
You know the 4x4 ride height from the factory was too much
You know the front bumper should have lined up with the side rocker panels instead of being 4" higher. The chassis scrapes, not the bumper. Could've and should've been lower.
You know GM never fixed the Column Lock with their recalls.
You know the pop up lights have all kinds of problems
Yet, people here tell me they did a great job and that I'm just some stupid dreamer who only knows how to photoshop ugly designs. I have more people who love the designs than hate them. If I choose to go through with a total custom build based on the latest concept I can promise you, if I parked next to you at a show, your car would get passed up faster than a shopping cart. Call me what you will , I don't care anymore. I've been biting my tongue for over a month reading all these smart *** replies.
Well, my vision isn't your vision. I'm not happy with my car looking like everyone elses car and because I tried to make a go of something special I've been called everything but a white man. I will be leaving the forum. I never would have expected this. Jabs, smart asses and know it alls. This was supposed to be a group who all shared the love of Corvette ownership. This group is about hate and seeing who could get the best slam in to anyone who dares challenge this cars stock superiority.
The aftermarket feasts on this car because GM got this car 85% right. PERIOD. If I would have paid 57k for my car new, I'd be pissed.
To the good guys here that were supportive and cool: You guys were the reason I stayed here even this long. You represent what I thought would be Corvette owners and the ones I have met in real life.
So go drive your cars that all look the same, continue to stroke the egos of anyone who made the same mod choices as you and continue to tell everyone that your opinion is the only one that is right. Continue to ignore the facts of the cars shortcomings.Lastly, continue to try and kill the dreams of anyone with a vision different than your own.
I will, in the meantime, stop wasting time on this forum and get to work building what GM should have built.
When my car is complete, whether it's a C5-C6 or whatever it is, you can read about it in the magazines. You didn't kill my vision, you made it stronger.
Good Bye and Good Luck to you all.
You came onto this forum with an idea of your own and couldn't handle the real world truth that not all people liked your ideas and designs. When you got mad you posted **** in red to promote your frustration. You started ridiculing the C5 from the get go as it didn't meet your expectations. Why the hell did you buy it to begin with since you seem to know everything and would have clearly made an educated purchase before actually plunking down the cash. You have continually bashed the car and a lot of people on this forum. When someone pissed you off, you attempted to "friend Them" myself included. You have clearly showed from the start that you are in fact a DICK! Bye, bye to you as well and you can kiss the good luck thing bye, bye as well. The world and this forum will be just fine without you.
