The CLB is not likely what is fried. It would be the K Harness that fries if one is installed....
The K Harness, if one was installed as a part of the recall service, was installed in series between the lock motor and the connector that goes back to the BCM. Many that installed a CLB were unaware that you needed to remove the K harness when installing a CLB.
So with the CLB that I installed from Corvettes of Houston back in the day, should I leave it in place and ADD a LMC5 or do you think the original CLB should be removed? I did not ever have a K harness

Seems like I remember Rick saying you could leave it in ????
It's that time of year, coming out for the summer with a less than perfect battery. Geeze, I love this forum for all the expert information. I ordered my LMC5 yesterday.
If you are adding an LMC5 you don't have to remove the CLB if you have one installed or even a K Harness if you have one of those. The LMC5 connects directly at the BCM and basically abandons anything that had to do with the Factory or recall column lock wiring....
Thanks for the information...
Good to hear... I order an LMC5 yesterday
Im looking forward to finally getting rid of the annoying incessant messages!
If everyone would start with and keep a healthy battery in car--storing or not--PUT on a battery tender--NO problems with column lock would happen! 20.00+on ebay!

Maybe you didn't read all the posts ????? #13 your dreaming !!!
Greetings,
I have installed the LMC5 last summer. I believe I also did the brown wire mod. I have a 2016 new battery installed and kept on a battery tender even to this day. I talked with Richard last year, who is excellent in customer service. We determined I needed a new battery, which as I said I purchased last year. I have a 98 automatic, and rarely drive it. As I mentioned I keep on a battery tender. I started the car up and drove a few days ago. I received the pull key and service column lock messages. I hit the reset. Two days ago I received just the service column lock and yesterday pulling the car from the garage the same thing However the pull key has seemed to not appear since the first message. I have yet to pull the negative battery cable to reset.
This is very frustrating and wondering if I will get stranded at some point.
I may have read everything possible on the net about this issue.
Looking for success with this seems impossible.
