As long as he's still in business. I'm entering Month 4 waiting on a Dual Gauge Pillar. Already bought another brand's full size equivalent in the meantime.

Last contact Dennis said he made Kenwood send him a radio (no more info than that) I received a e-mail from Kenwood today telling me they have no release date for the DDX793 ???? I have not and will not contact Dennis to find out any more on this issue. I know he is very busy and it's not the end of the world to me !!! One thing, how can a manufacturer not know when a product will be available ??????????? :toe tap:

Oh wow. I'm sorry to hear you guys going through this. Hopefully you guys will have a ship date by the time I have all of mine(not Kenwood) installed (probably not for another week or so). I will feel bad posting pictures knowing that you 2 are sitting there twiddling your thumbs not knowing if youll ever get a product you paid for. I really hope this gets worked out

Let me add something..... I, like everyone else had to wait.. at the time, the wait seemed long. I even fabricated a cardboard bezel, so my car did not looked hacked. The one bit of advice I could give everyone is, not to settle or make a compromise, because you might be sorry. Once you have determined what you want. stick with it, and don't second guess a choice just for expediency... I know it seems like a long wait. but time should not be the reason you are impatient. We all know that good things will come to those who are willing to stick to their guns, and since most cars are fully operational without the upgrade, its only a matter of time. Once you get it, it will seem like the first time, you got.... well you know...
Keep the faith, Dennis has a lot of pull with Kenwood, and is doing his best to accommodate everyone.

Bill, I have been very clear, I have zero issues with Dennis, when a company as big as Kenwood is more than a month delayed and than says they have NO release date, more or less blows me away ?????

Everyone is a victim of manufacturing delivery dates, When we started on the C5, the two most important items on the build where deliver on time, and within budget.

Time can be a tough item to manage because second and third tier suppliers to Kenwood, might be behind. This puts Kenwood, the manufacturer, without a clear delivery date. It seems they have the build finalized, but apparently are having trouble with component deliveries to the manufacturing facility.. These New units are in high demand. keeping up with the demand is not as simple as it might appear. The fact that some units are getting out, is good news. Meaning there is no problem with the build... just a matter of supplying the parts necessary to fulfill all the orders.. IM guessing the demand for the unit, exceed the projected launch numbers. With such quick model turn over, manufacturers do not want to order more than they think they will need.. Its called lean manufacturing. I know it doesn't help, but gives you some idea of how the chain works.. Kenwood does not want to lose credibility, or those sales, so I am sure they are lighting all the fires to get these units out quickly.

Paul, because I understand how manufacturing works from an insider perspective... And as a consumer, can be empathetic to the buying public. I understand more than others might, so I am not trying to be a know it all, but to help with the mind game ... people might want to blame a poor manufacturing company or a poor vendor. I am just trying to draw a picture that might be more palatable.
How about this, think back to when you were ten years old...it was the night before Christmas, and that time seemed like every second was an hour long. Looking out and hoping the sun would go down and you could go to bed. That was a long long time ago... yet that passing of time seemed like it took forever...

I waited six weeks, which seemed like 6 months, but that was two years ago, and I can hardly remember that wait. Same will be true with all of you guys waiting.. and the wait will be worth it.

My order has been in since last October. If not for the great reputation Dennis has with DD Mods I would have probably cancelled long ago. Just a waiting game until Kenwood steps up with the product.

As I have mentioned Bill, I have many years as a Tech and know all about getting parts on time or the right ones or not at all. I had the foresight to buy another bezel on E-Bay for a good price and knowing I will be able to sell it after my mod is done. You hit the nail on the head I am that 10 year old waiting for one of the mods I wanted the most !!!!

Well today I received a Fed-ex tracking number, so I e-mailed Dennis and told him I hope I have not been a pain, and the radio He told Kenwood to send didn't put someone else out. He was adamant on how upset he is with Kenwood and never a customer, the radio in question (DDX793) I was the only one getting that model. Looks like next week I will be installing my new radio and bezel. Sure appreciate Dennis and DD Mods !!

I can tell you that Kenwood at times does ship their radios via a combination of UPS cooperation with FedEx... this service is called Fed-Up.

I can hardly see the bitching about a radio that was not even launched or the availability crystal clear... Its like saying I order a 2017 C7RX and am pissed off because I paid for it and want it now. Unless I am mistaken because, I have not followed this issue.. Are you guys saying that you paid for a radio in October ( 6 months ago ) and it was already available? Or you knew up front that a launch date was not available.. So it was your choice to pay for a radio that was not available. Or were you told that it would be available in a timely manner. I would never pay up front for something that was not available. I would however give a merchant my credit card number but only if it was not charged until it was shipped, as a sign of my commitment. That's how business should be done. There is no reason for a Vendor or a merchant to receive money for a non existent product.

All I know is Dennis posted a group buy (A really good deal) and the Radio's would be available in around the first week in March. And yes we had to pay up front. When I called Donna she told me it was 5 weeks out on the bezel, that put me at the end of Feb. Then I had some family issues and called Donna not to ship until I called (my bezel was done around Mar 4) ??? After that all of a sudden no one knew when the radio's would ship ???

Was it the features of this radio or the price that cause all this grief?
If its the price, how much was saved?

My two year old radio has front a rear camera adaption, it runs much of its technology off my Android smart phone. I don't have to pay for any maps for my Garmin Nav system and every couple of months it automatically updates. I can send and receive texts, and send and receive phone calls all hands free. There is nothing that I am aware of that I feel I am missing. I don't need the internet on my radio, because I have that on my phone, and I would not need the internet if I'm driving anyway.

I am sure Dennis does have other radio packages available, not that I would suggest a switch... but how much money was saved in this group buy. ? and was the savings worth the wait?

I am not being judgmental, but only interested in the details. a good monetary savings or a feature that is so new and so desirable as to order without a due date.

Just curious.

I just went by what prices I had seen for the Bezel mod and such, and I didn't know the radio was a complete new model (kinda knew). I think Dennis was also in the dark as far as Kenwood goes and I'm just guessing that. I trusted DD Mods and that is all it was for me. The Radio has a 6.9 screen and some other features as far as the phone apps working with the radio ??? The thread said with X amount of sales Dennis could pass the savings to us. I want to be real clear I have been patient and never upset with Dennis. Until you filled me in on the Manufacture part I just could not understand how such a big and I thought good company could not give a release date ??

I was speaking tonight with someone at crutchfield about the new Kenwood units which have not arrived yet but he said it will be soon. He told me the units that they receive to test out are much better than the older models. I thought I would just pass this along. It will be worth the wait if the new Kenwood units are better.
