I would pay $100/year if it was not locked to a device, but I don't have XM in my C5, so not a subscriber. For $100/year I would expect to be able to listen to it in the house when I am not in my car. I also would expect to be able to use it in a second vehicle since I am single and can only listen in one location at a time.
CD player in the Vette is loaded with all my hand picked tunes. There are so many you don't seem to tire of them.
Also, when XM comes through a radio the sound is just not as good as the CD player.
I only play the tunes in the Vette when I am behaving myself which is not all that often.
I have Sirius in my truck and my wife's car, I love it... I never listen to FM radio... I do stream music from my iphone as well but... I really can't live without the Sirius XM now.
One tip..
You can get the Sirius XM mobile app for $6 a month, then stream the Sirius XM to your stereo through Bluetooth or USB... You get a little better XM signal that way, and its much cheaper then paying for subscriptions for multiple cars. The Sirius app is a bit cumbersome to navigate when driving tho..I prefer using the stereo's XM vs. the app for daily driving.
I have subscriptions for my truck/wife's car, then I use the mobile app to stream for both of my vettes...
You WILL have to call and battle the billing dept every year to keep the cost down, negotiation "promotional offers" etc....(just like fighting your cable company).
I pay a little over $200 a year for both the truck and car, as well as the mobile app... Also in my truck I use "Travel Link" and gives you all kinds of cool stuff as well as live weather radar right on the screen in the truck. I use this daily... Its $20 a year...
I have been a subscriber for over 10 years. Love having the same stations everywhere I go, hate dealing with the company. Never, ever, ever, ever give them a CC number. I have them paper invoice me and then mail a check.
We have it in our Tahoe because my wife likes it. I don't have it in my DD for myself, though.
I usually let the subscription get really close to the end...or even expire. Then I call them and work a deal. I usually get it for around $100 a year. Sounds pricey but, again, the wife likes it. As long as she's happy, well...you know the old saying...
I'm of the opinion that Pandora is just as good if not better. Sure, there are ads every now and then but not enough to be super annoying. And it's free.
Yeah, I negotiate a price of around $120 for 12 months, including traffic and weather. Really enjoy it.

I have had a Sirius Starmate receiver for over 10 year now and by using the docking setups, I can easily and quickly transfer the receiver between my vehicles and the house. I actually have two docking stations at home. One is in the garage the other in my den. Both are connected to A/V receivers All I needed was an antenna and a 12v power supply for each. Sirius has a home antenna that can be mounted outside and provides great reception. All of those items can be ordered from Sirius or by going to Amazon or Best Buy.
A couple years ago, I took a trip to Kamloops B.C. in my C5 and I got great reception all the way. I have a docking station in the car and it's connected to my Kenwood head unit thru the Aux port. Power comes from the accessory plug in the console.
We bought a new 2015 Dart GT for our DD last May. It came with a years worth of Sirius XM. I actually like it and have used it everytime I drive it and when I'm in the garage I have my phone playing it. The subscription runs out this May and they are sending me renewal notices now. $30 for 6 months and $14 a month after that. Personally, I can't see paying for something I will only use when I'm driving and that's not much time spent with it. So I won't be renewing it. I have over 500 songs on my phone so I'll just use the USB plug in the center console and sync the phone to the head unit and use that. The Vette has a head unit with an SD card slot and has the same songs that my phone has. Takes a while to go through all those songs so it never gets old really. I just can't justify paying that much for something I will only use an hour a day 4 days a week...
Try it for the 3 free months. A lot depends on where you drive, we have it on the daily driver and have 2 dead spots on a 6 mile trip. One is just 2 or 3 seconds the other lasts about 10 seconds, if you're getting a lot of this it may not be worth keeping but is worth a try.
