I was driving my vette today and the shift **** was getting loose and starting to spin as I was driving. I do not have the demon key and am using a jam nut on a stock ****. I was not ramming thru the gears or anything. I was going to visit my parents anyway so visited, but when I got ready to leave the **** would just spin even with the jam nut and I could not get it tight. Would I be correct in saying that the threads are gone (I know it has not been over tightened) and with that being said can the threads be re-tapped or is a new **** in my future? Thanks

I say a new shifter and **** should be in your future. MGW.
Problem solved and you will be waaay happier!
Just a suggestion to prevent this in the future - I drilled and tapped a hole in the front base of an aftermarket **** that is very similar to the C6 **** pictured above and used a dog-point set screw to lock it into place. You can use a set screw with a nylon dog if you're concerned about bunging the shaft threads up.
I have a **** on the way. If that doesn't work then I may get back with you on the shifter. Thanks for the offer though..
Where'd you get your **** at? twisted shifters has them and they're made to your liking. Ran an all black one before switching to a C6z shifter and delrin.
