Default interesting c7 z06

was on the hwy the other day and ran in to a beautiful red c7 zo6 gave the wave as i passed him by then he came up on me (car looks so mean in the rear view mirror) we played a little i was shocked i stayed next to him he really didnt pull away we was pretty much locked we never got a heads up hit i was always chasing so he always had a very very slight hit i was quick since i was waiting for him though. i think it was an auto that needed a drive mod since i dont think my car should of stuck with him that good? i ran to back to back 11.2 @ 122 mph last week but still think that car should of walked me?

even though still felt good to be side by side with one...

Driver mod makes a huge difference, especially in that monster. Still cool that you guys had some fun. We all drive Corvettes, after all.

I have a friend here in Dallas who had a buddies Laguna Blue C7Z A8... Cruising down the hwy ( I was the passenger) and he nailed it.... Brother, it ran really well!!! I would love to have one!!! I would probably opt for the A8 over the M7.... Until that time though, i'll continue crushing them w my Little C5Z....

More power to ya! The C7Z's are badazz for sure, but I wish they'd solve the heat soak issues. GM did way too many things right with that car to have it suffer from overheating.

A friend just bought a 16' C7Z M7, took it to the track after the break in service was done. On 20" drag radials the best he could manage was 11.2@122. This was on a +1500' night.

The A8 cars seem to be running 125-128 mph depending on DA. Ofcourse heat soak can really mess with them.

I almost bought one about 2 weeks ago, I really like them. I know the mod bug would bite me hard though and those cars have a lot of short comings once you really get into modding them. Have to spend a lot of money on heat management stuff.

A Ron Davis radiator and a decent Oil cooler and all heat soak issues ate gone....

i agree a8 i love my z but cant lie clutch is getting old for a daily (tickmaster+monster stg2) traffic is murder lol when i ran my car and got the 11.2 the DA was -256

i'd like to have one to but i can never leave things be so i'd have a $90k car with no warranty wife at that point would probably divorce me lol

i dont consider my car a monster or any thing but it was pretty fun to hang with the c7z really excited about getting the nitrous installed hopping to clip low to mid 10's with a 125 shot, i think mid 10's are pretty dam fast currently

11.2 is a very good 1/4 time. Assuming you are running FI or heads/cam.
The C7 Z06 should be a mid 10s car with drag radials.

thanks

my car is N/A H/C/I bolton's but it was built with drivability in mind so its not a big cam or heads, i was shooting for high 10's so a little disappointed hoping next time out i'll run better times.

Not Accurate.

Take a look at what L.G. Motorsports and Katech had to do to solve the issue.

Unless you move the intercooler from in front of the radiator you will eventually overheat the engine.

Yes... And thats not even talking about solving the heat soak, high intake temp issues...

In reality, you need a big radiator, big oil cooler, bigger heat exchanger, bigger coolant tank for the exchanger, modify the grill/fog light areas etc etc...All this stuff needs to be done to be reliable on a road course. LG has a big thread on this.

Sucks to buy a $100k car and then have to do $4k in mods to make it not over heat on the track.

Well...to a degree that's true, but at the same time I think GM knows that the majority of users won't track them hard. That said, I think there were a few more than expected, because C7 really did attract a lot of new buyers. In the end though, based upon my track thread, the majority of guys tracking them don't overheat, unless ambient temps are in the mid 80's and higher. Not to mention, most guys aren't doing their prep, as outlined in the manual, as well as the oil change, as required.

To the OP, you get these guys that run in some of the lesser driving modes, they are going to get some traction control intervention for sure on cold tires. That said, straight line isn't where the cars really make their money. Pretty cool to stay close though.
