Anyone ever had their Chadwick's go bad over the winter? Just went out to do my first Chadwick's of the year and noticed that it didn't have that normal good smell. I looked in the bottle and noticed what looks like mold floating in there . Had to use my Adam's detail spray instead.
This is one of the reasons the real zymol (not the crap from autozone or Walmart) tells you to store in the fridge. I have zymol from 1996 that is still good.
Did it freeze? Have had mine for a couple of years now with no problems. I know you are not supposed to let it freeze. Keep mine in the house for the winter.
From what I understand it's the heat that will make it go bad, I have no such problem because I heat the garage in the winter and cool it in the summer. I also buy by the gallon and have had no issue. Call Neil, you can not find a better guy to do business with !!!

I have purchased 3 gallon containers over the past couple years, and "Yes" it will definitely do both things you mentioned over time - especially if it is left in a warm/hot garage for a few weeks. At first I thought maybe I just got a bad batch, but all three gallons over time have displayed the same characteristics. I keep the gallon containers in the house, so they hold up for some time, but when I transfer the product to the quart sprayers - especially the one I keep in the garage, it goes south pretty quick.
The smell can only be described as a "dirty diaper" and has some serious "hang-time". I have had neighbors walk into my garage and say "What is the God Awful Smell"! My Brother during a recent visit could not believe I would use something that smelled like that (but it "works" really good).
As far as the "mold", I know exactly what you are talking about. It forms dark brown clumps that float and stick to the inside of the spray bottles. At some point you will notice that the sprayer filter will completely clog up and stop spraying and have to be rinsed out.
I am "guessing" the solution to both problems is either use it up quickly, keep it in the fridge or move to Alaska?
The 2 sprayers I keep in the house where it is air conditioned last a few months before starting to exhibit symptoms but never to the degree the one I keep in the garage for daily use does.

Thanks Choreo. What you described is exactly what happened to mine. Maybe it was the heat in my garage from last fall. My unopened bottle looks fine. The bottle that went bad was only about a third full so no big loss. In the future I will store my open bottle in the house since the garage can get pretty hot at times.

I never had to throw any out - it still worked great, but you won't be going on any "dates" with the opposite sex as that smell transfers from the rag to your hands (unless you wear rubber gloves) and it won't wash off easy. On the plus side, the smell seems to repel small animals from jumping on your car!
I'm looking for some clarification... I see people like Pounder and Choreo and others who buy this stuff by the gallon. ( 3 in the 2 years'' [his words]) its 69.99 a gallon plus 15.95 shipping. total cost 86 dollars a gallon.
My question is why are people buying gallons? Do you need to use that much? I don't see any car out there using this process that jumps out over other products that are much cheaper.
Now with this issue of stability.. I'm just questioning those who use this stuff. the cost and where is the advantage ? 89 dollars would cover my care finish budget for about 8 years. Yet people buy 3 gallon in a year's time. that's over 250 dollars.
It cant be speed, because I can do my car in 45 minutes... it cant be longevity because people are buying gallons, yet I can go well over a year with a single application.
I never bought into this, I would If I could accept the premise of spraying a dirty car...and then wiping it down. So it not a long lasting product, and its not cheap.. So is it hype ( there is plenty of that on this forum ) or is there something I am missing, that would make my finish better than it is now.
Just asking.... someone educate me as to why I would spend 89 dollars on a gallon of this stuff, and have to use enough of it to buy 3 gallons.

I just keep a small amount in the bottle I keep in the car and when I get home I take it out !!!!! I do both of my vehicles and windows and mirrors and counter tops and sinks and I use it up before it could go bad !!!!!

this will be my third summer and past two winters with one gallon and I don't have to buy anything else !!!! lets see a Michigan winter a normal person might go thru 20 washes (conservative) at 7 to 8 bucks a time that's 160 for one car ????? I now don't buy Windex or any other cleaner for that matter ??? I did start with a 32oz bottle !!!!! How much does Zaino cost Bill ?? (I don't know never bought any)

When I worked At GM I know all about Michigan winters. I did not want to bring up what I use ( mention the name )... I did not want to make my post about what I use.. I am just honestly asking a legitimate question.. Most of these products, waterless cleaners are 98 % water. Waterless meaning you don't use additional water from a hose. MY wife worked for a chemical laboratory so I was privy to a Mass Spec. I could get anything analyzed..
I'm not trying to slam the product you guys use, I'm just trying to find out why. There is no magic secret ingredients out there.
Trying to keep this civil and respectful. Inquiring minds want to know.
FYI a bottle of Zaino is 12.95 + shipping. I can get 8 or 9 applications out of it... ( I posted this only because you asked.. ) I don't care what anyone uses, just curious about this one.
Before I got sick.. I would do my car finish about 4 times a year, getting two years out of a bottle . I know what I do and how I do it is fine, the result speak for themself.. I'm just wanting to know the motivation, to buy this product.
What I don't want to do is start a train wreck...

I use about one-gallon per year, but I use it almost every day on my black C5 and I also use it on just about everything in and around the house (windows, counters, mirrors, etc.). On the interior bathroom mirrors, I use it about 3 times a year and never found anything better for mirrors. I even use it on the toilets and tubs!
As far as my car, I usually do a major detail about twice a year with an RO and Menzerna, then follow up with multiple coats of Zaino. Following that I use Zaino Detailers on a daily basis and occasional additional coats of Z2 an Z5 as long as I can until the West Texas wind and dust take their toll and cause enough fine scratches/swirls to the point where the Zaino Detailers no longer cover the daily damage. That is when I switch over to Chadwick's for daily maintenance as it does a better job of masking fine scratches until the next detail session. This is not a recommended system, just the one that I have found works best for me.
Since I wipe my car down every day (because of all the blowing dust out here) I use just about the same amount of liquid spray detailer every day whether it be Z6, Z8 or Chadwicks. I also have not "washed" my exterior body panels in over 2 years.

I tried this once and it worked decent but the half bottle I still had showed the same effects described above, it stunk like holy hell and had stuff floating in it after about a month... needless to say I tossed it and haven't used it since... I don't necessarily think it's a bad product but it isn't for me... I am by no means a waxer and was looking for a quicker way to clean the car because that is my least favorite thing to do... but the thing is, if you don't keep your car pretty dang clean to begin with all the time then I don't think this product will work that great since you will find yourself having to wash the car first anyway before you use chadwicks... if you only drive the car to shows and clean it before, during, and after, then yeah this stuff will work great
