I just bought an 04 vert , magnetic red with tan top, I've never owned a convertible. Do I have to do anything to the top to keep it in good condition. I always garage it and I just bought an indoor cover. The car has less than 10,000 miles on it and the top is in like new condition. I would like to keep it that way. Thanks,
Ray Z
If you always garage your car and don't drive it much in inclement weather you don't need to do much more than vacuum off the dust and rinse with water.
If the top gets dirty I use Rag Top products or Aerospace 303 for fabric. I'm sure there are many others out there that will do a good job. The most important is probably to apply something to protect so the water just beads and runs off.
Fick (what a handle?) pretty well summed it up...follow that advice and you cant go wrong. On a different topic, congrats on a fine purchase and I am sure it will deliver you many happy smiles/miles in the future. It is customary to post a pic of your new baby here on the forum as an introduction. Greetings, Rob
You'll laugh, but when I had my '01 Vert, the Porsche Soft Top Protectant was my favorite. Great water protection, and unlike other types, didn't change the soft feel of the top itself. Rag Top kits are good, too, but the Porsche stuff is only 20 bucks at the dealer.

I have tried several products and used them as per their instructions... the ONLY one that I use now is the 303...
I gently rinse my top off at the car wash with the hand held wand... just keep it about 18 inches away and don't stop...just wash it and rinse it fairly quickly then treat it... about once a year.
like others have said, I've used 303 on my 2000 vette over the last 16 years, great results.
303 . OEM top still like new. Car garaged quite a bit.I found a soft brush on my shop vac is all I need to keep it looking fine. We get a lot of pollen, so in the spring, I vacuum every couple of weeks.

enjoy. as below, I use 303, but just recalled that while ago I had thought I wish I had just vacuumed it. It spends a lot of time in the garage and due to the weather the OEM top is down most of the time. The 303 seemingly tends to accentuate the "rub" marks in the rear corners on my BLACK top after I have it down and then put it up. May not be as noticeable on a tan top. Just a thought
My 04 convertible is not garaged, but under one of those portable carports.
Has been since I got it two years ago.
I don't use anything but simple green on my top,and it looks brand new.
The one thing with simple green is, make sure you rinse it off well.
I clean it every three months.
Once a week, I take a damp rag and go over it lightly to remove minor surface dust and pollen.
Simple green removes those black marks prevalent on these convertibles where they fold.
