I have a 01 and I don't have any problems,they work just like other cars I have owned. Sorry I can't help you.GL

I just replaced mine and they still work like they are supposed to. Perhaps the previous owner had a problem with the wind blowing them down at speed and somehow locked them up.
My car is a 00 vert and the visors go down with just like they would in any other car. You must have a hard time accessing the latches to lock and unlock the top if they don't go down? I would check to see if they've been glued or somehow fixed in place.
You most likely have a RUSTED metal hinge rod and it not allowing it to pivot. Here is the POST that you need to fix the issue. Pull it apart and use some oil or penetrating fluid to help get it freed up.
If you try applying a bit of extra pressure move them down, be sure not to do it from one of the corners as it will break the cardboard backing and then you will have 'floppy ears' on your visors.
