Bleachcola Dang that's a nice z06 However there is not enough damage to my car for me to want to buy another one or that I would get more parting it out rather than fixing and selling it, even if I didn't do the work myself. The only things that need to be replaced are listed in a previous post, it isn't a total loss, would cost me about $200 in parts to make it drivable which also means sellable for far more than I would get in parts. When it's all said and done, she'll be good as new, or better.
I was checking out another thread on here where a member took a c6 z06 that was in a fire and repaired the firewall with fiberglass, and put a built engine in, some of you might be familiar with it. The damage to that car was far worse and seeing what he did with it was very impressive.
Thanks jptgs1, it will be back in commission very shortly.
I'll post up a bunch of pictures when I am finished.
I agree with you. It's not bad at all. But I do think ins company would've totaled it. I used to work in a body shop and used many fire losses as parts. Many ran just fine.
Check out one of my very first threads on this forum. This post kind of reminds me of my first project. Although mine was a bit worse than yours, I got similar responses, though much support too.
Don't forget to check any rubber gaskets or seals, such as the valve cover gaskets to make sure they didn't melt.
Good luck with it. You'll have it done in no time.

Thanks, I hope so I'll definitely check out that thread. yeah I guess the ins would have totaled it. I sure won't forget, I'm checking everything.
Just a note expressing an empathetic "Aw crap" and a bunch of much worse expletives! Man, I hope you are able to work things out in the best way possible for you. Best wishes on things getting better!
lots of parts that need changing. Good luck with the repairs, that sucks man...
Thanks, yeah I'm really particular about this car and it hurts to see it like this Cmon not that many parts the fire didn't get that hot, very little melted, it mostly just needs a good cleaning.
I can replace all of the female connectors like at the steering rack and abs sensors. I'll get a aftermarket throttle body and manifold down the road, same with the fuel rail, and just paint mine for the time being. Anything on the engine that is alum. I can polish with brass.
Really not as much damage as I was thinking, I cleaned the TT tunnel and frame and the soot/powder just wiped off, it all looks perfect again. I don't need to paint the frame or wheel well liner.
Just a good cleaning and a few hundred in parts and we can all stop making the barf face
