1. It depends on your route or where you live. I was lowered on stock bolts, and where I used to live the speed bumps weren't an issue. Then I moved and the speed bumps in my community now are monstrous! I removed the front bolts and they're basically a requirement.
2. I purchased mine from Elite Engineering for $75.
The PO of my Z06 installed rocker frame rails.I am sure if you bottomed out hard enough depending on your speed, you would still damage the rockers. These offer some protection and i like the jacking pads.http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/c...nd-mtg-screws/
They are necessary. I haven't seen the ones I have offered for sale anymore though. Mine don't have the jacking pucks either. Find ones you like and get them on.

What's the difference between the $75 pair from Elite Engineering and the $225 pair? Are you still able to use your jack pucks with the $75 pair?

The difference is the more expensive ones are aluminum with built in jacking "pucks" if you will....they're not pucks, rather milled aluminum that cover the stock puck spots to use instead.
The composite ones are what I have and I haven't used pucks ever and certainly not since I installed the protectors. I simply place the jack on the composite rail and lift using them, being careful to watch for any slippage.

The $75 dollar ones are advertised to be used with the pucks. They also state that they are 3/4 inch thick. So you will have to figure that into the clearance you will have when you lower the car.
I am lowered on aftermarket rear bolts, and front bolts removed. Daily driver when it's not raining, and have never had an issue with rockers scraping, not once. The front air dam, is another story. I would save your money and invest in some frame savers for the front "fangs".

You just leave the pucks in permanently? They don't rattle and make annoying noise while driving?
I do not leave mine in, I was just making a point that if you are going to use the plastic rails install your pucks so you can position the rails in the right location as the rails have cut outs for your pucks.
