Ok so I'm not new to working on cars, but I am new to working on my Corvette. Appreciate the help with stupid newb questions.
I'm installing an exhaust setup on Saturday. A buddy of mine has a lift. My question is, where exactly should I place the lift pads?
My second question is, what is the best advice for me when I want to use a floor back at home? Do you have to buy pads for a floor jack? Or use corvette specific pucks, will a hockey puck work?
I've searched a little and honestly haven't found much info.
Do you have to open all latches, doors, hood, & hatch to lift it or jack it up?

Use jacking pucks...either purchased or made from hockey pucks and a loop bolt. Do a search at the top for "preferred jacking locations".

Luckily I have a friend with a C5 that showed me how when I bought my first vette. I have worked on all my own cars most of my life but vettes are really engineered for specific ways to lift. You should use the lifting pads that have the either the eye bolt (with the hockey puck) or the urethane with some way for them to key in to your frame. There are four slotted holes under the car located just to the rear of the front tire and just in front of the rear tire. It will make sense once you have the lift pad in your hand and you are looking under the car. The problem with pads that don't have a way to key in is that your car could slide off of them....
As to the doors, hood and hatch open my friends with c5's all said that it is not necessary to have anything open and that you have less chance of messing something up if you leave the doors closed since it is more ridged that way.

I bought these pucks, they "permanently" clip on to the jacking locations so you don't have to worry about attaching, having the pucks with you when needed, etc. I just leave them on the car always. $50 is kind of pricy, but the convenience is worth it, IMO.

Those same slots in the frame are used to tie the car down on a trailer also. I bought the t- hooks from northern tool and hardware for 5 or 6 bucks each.
