I think there is a sevice most DMV's provide... I did a search on our 73 corvette but, don't remember exactly the process I went thru... I did get some PO's from that method...good luck
You can get a copy of the window sticker and the build sheet from the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. These will show the dealer where the car was delivered. Call that dealer. Many keep that information for searches such as you want to keep especially on corvettes.
Go to the DMV web site in the state the car was first titled. Possibly they have a process where you can get information (copy) on the original sale and title to the vehicle. This is what I did in MD (1st owner) and PA (second owner) when I purchased my '04 in 2014.
Bought my car recently, I know the history
Since 2010 but have little info prior.
I have the car-fax that shows where it originated.
Any way to track down an owner without
Asking the dealer ( doubt they would be helpful)
Only reason is I'm looking for early service records and possibly
The window sticker.
The car is an '04 MY Vert with 25K miles originating in
The USA now living in Canada
I don't mean to sound like a smart a$$, but it's a little late to find out about service records... you already bought the car right... so now what was or wasn't done is kinda of a mute point... just start doing what needs to be done and keep track of it for your peace of mind...
the window sticker, IF your thinking would add value somehow, someday because it will be collectible is also a mute point... these cars will likely NEVER become "collectible"
The RPO Codes for what options were and are on your car are on the inside lid of the Glove Box...

Been here a week or two, didn't take long to find the all mighty guru around here.
I know the car was taken care of. Service records was more to learn maybe what was done during warranty, not oil changes. (Car-fax showed those)
Since you can look into the future, when in the eighties did you realize an 81 air induction Camaro selling for maybe $7000 new would go across an auction block for 50K or more (depending on mileage and DOCUMENTATION)
You can never have too much paperwork, apologies if your Ford never
Came with any.

Sorry... like I said didn't mean to sound like a smart A... I get what your saying... Good luck in your quest to find previous owners
No worries. I do know they stop depreciating at a certain point
And then start to appreciate in value. I have no clue
As to when.
I sold my '96 Z28 to buy my dream car(50th present to myself)
In 8 years the difference was $2000 less than what I paid for it.
But I'd bet the farm it will always be worth as much or more when
The guy that bought it from me decides to sell it down the road.
Dude... I HOPE I'm totally wrong about the C5 being collectible...
By the way WELCOME to the forum...enjoy one of the greatest cars I've ever owned...
what do you mean by collectible? Just curious, my wife and I bought a c3 the end of last year and a c5 this month. They are for car shows and joy driving so to us they are collectible. Was wondering what you are referring to.
SWEET... FYI one of the best upgrades I've done so far are the C6 Z06 shocks... looks like yours is probably FE1 soft ride suspension like ours... it was just too soft... the upgrade isn't stiff or harsh, it just makes for a smoother ride...
Thanks for the info. For now, I'm leaving everything alone but might consider it when/if the shocks need replacing. My Z28 was completely unmolested, I might leave this one the way GM intended it to be. We'll see.

As far as finding what might have been done to the car when it was under warranty, you should be able to take the VIN to your local dealer and they can get into their computer system and run you a report. I had that done to mine when I bought it back in 2009.

When I think about a collector car... it is a car that is bought as an invest...expecting the rareness or something exceptionally special about the car that will make it worth more money in the future. The C5 isn't and probably won't be rare for some time... the car was exceptional in 1997... it was a LEAP forward with the LS1 engine design, and maybe someday a pristine early model 97 will be collectible just because it was a first... usually the first and the last of a model that becomes collectible are the most valuable.
I LOVE the C5 one of my favorite cars of all time... but, I just don't see it as being a collectible car for many, many years... perhaps after most of us are dead and gone our grandkids will see a day when they will be...

I see what you mean, we bought ours for the enjoyment , if they are worth a bit more down the line that's fine but we are not expecting that
