Default Insulating or sound deadening

I am confused how could there so much controversy over this.

Some say it works to minimum satisfaction, some say it's incredible, and some say it's made no difference at all.

The opinions are literally all over the map, and of course everyone says they did on their own car to back up their answer.

I've never done it, but it seems a simple task to prove or disprove.

I'm surprised no one has just gotten a meter driven down the road, installed a pre cut kit or whatever, and then driven down the road with a meter again.

Hell, if I sold this product I would send a couple to members free for them to record before & after to end the debate.

Sound is subjective, some who have acute hearing may hear a difference, those of us who don't, hear no difference or very little.

"Noisy" is a very subjective condition. I put a lot of material (mass-loaded vinyl) in back portions of my car and got a very nice decrease in noise.
It would be nice to have a definitive measure of the improvement. But even if i had those numbers, it really comes down to "How much of a difference will I notice?"

Beauty and Sound are in the Eyes/Ears of the beholder. I put 1" of foil backed insulation & 1/8" of sound block, firewall to rear including the doors, 1" foil backed insulation on a 1/4" alum tunnel plate and insulated the cntr compartment. I did mine more for climate control than noise, sitting in a +100* parking lot they call freeways in SoCal, both however were greatly improved. I did not do the rear panel because I paid a LOT to get that noise.

I just want a reliable, proven way to get rid of the tire roar/road noise from the rear tires, which echoes around back there. As in really make a significant difference - not just make it a little less. Right now, if I turn up the audio enough to hear the quiet parts of music, my ears get blasted when it gets louder.

Yes, but - Frost King and similar are designed for heat insulation, not sound. Effective sound insulation means adding weight to strategic points to stop the panels vibrating or echoing. Maybe I just need to blanket the entire rear with Dynamat.

INDEED...cost WAS an issue for me and the frost king did a good job, so I assume the Dynamat would do an even BETTER job...
I am a bit of an audiophile and do enjoy visiting with my wife of 39 years... I know, I know... it's kinda weird but, I do.
Anyhow... I was amazed at the difference it made, as hard of hearing as I am I can now hear the radio upgrades we made and talk without having to scream at her... not that I have a problem with screaming at her... I've done my share of that in the last 39 years lol

That peel-and-stick product from the home improvement stores - Tite-Seal. Works absolutely great. Sticks down tight!! Does not stink on a hot day in Florida. Easy to cut. Save yourself a lot of money over Dyna-Mat and similar.
Highly recommended.

Tips please!

From those of you have done this before. What's important for us to know about doing the rear wheel wells?

You know, like how far from the edges or bolt holes should leave bare without insulation? I've read some people had trouble getting them fit and had to do it over, but no one has said, here are some tips, here's what to avoid...
