The other day, I searching for a piece of paper to write down the codes from my car. While searching, I went through the owners manual pouch and found on the first page of the manual, was the original owners info. Name, address, mileage upon delivery etc. It got me thinking, would it be weird to mail out a letter with some pictures of how the car is doing? Weird or understandable? Not sure what to do. Has anyone else done anything similar?

The original owner may enjoy hearing how the car is and what has been done to it. There have been many times I have wondered what has happened to a bunch of the cars I have owned.
Absolutely! Make the contact. As the previous owner of a number of performance type vehicles, I've always enjoyed hearing back from new owners about their experiences with my previously owned rides. I'd be surprised if you had a negative reaction. Have a good one!

I bought my C5 from a Chevy dealer after a trade in and he handed me the title of the car so I thought I'd write the original owner a nice letter to see if I could get the window sticker and ask a few questions. I didn't want to call because I didn't want to be a bother, that's why the letter. After several weeks, I didn't hear anything so I went back to examine the title closer. He and his wife were both on the title, but as I looked closer at the seller, it was only his wife so I've come to the conclusion that he must have passed. I'm really glad I didn't call. He owned the car fro 15 years.
Do it. If they cared at all about the car they would be thrilled. I sold a 1970 Mustang several years ago to guy who had family in the auto business. Hated to sell it but had to because of recent divorce The guy told me he'd call when he finished restoring the car. I never expected it to happen, but sure enough six months later I get a call and they drove over to the house to show me the final result. Very touching.
