It has aftermarket head and tail lights, hurst shifter, borla catback,z wheels, and non functional brake vents they are just the stick ons. All else is stock
With the instant consumer culture on TV, sometimes the excitement and joy of realizing a long term desire is not considered. it is one of the joys of life, I also congratulate you.
Awesome ride!! I actually took a picture of my registration
And looked at it for days to make sure it wasn't a dream.
That and going into the garage after work for a week straight just
To make sure I wasn't dreaming.
With the faux brake vents you better spend a buck under the hood or peel
Them off, you'll have a ton of people thinking it's something else
At many red lights.
I have been wanting a c5z for a little over a year now and almost ended up with one about 10 months ago but it fell through. When that one car fell through I got a bad taste in my mouth and gave up for a while. To make that story as short as possible the seller was a snake in the grass and nothing he told me was true. then 2 to 3 months after that mess we moved from Florida to Pennsylvania where I grew up (don't ask whi we are still figuring it out) and shortly realized that the economy is not as good here as it was in Florida. Now that we were all settled in and adjusted to the new place and smaller budget I started looking for a fun car. I was initially looking for a 3/5 thousand dollar project like a rat rod or something that I could have fun with. At this point I am not even looking for a c5 because i kinda discounted it from the realm of possibilities. Then a couple days ago browsing the local classifieds I see a 99 frc. I looked at the pictures and drooled for a while thinking of how nice it would be to own it. At this point it is still to expensive for me to feel right about purchasing but I never closed the tab on my phone so I could continue to dream about it. Then on the fourth or fifth day I noticed the price dropped and I get excited but do not mention it to my wife yet. The next morning we go to the dealer to get some warranty work done to the wife's car and I mentioned the corvette to her when we got back home. Both of us being verry money conscious/frugal it was not a easy decision but she knew how much I wanted it and for how long I have been wanting one so we call the guy and get everything set up to check it out. When we get there the car was accurately described to me and was in the condition he said. It is not a show car but it seems to be a solid car but then again I would have never been able to afford a show room condition car. So we negotiate for a little bit and I end up taking the car home. It is now sitting in the garage ant the only thing keeping from going out to tinker with it is that I am writing this story I can't wait to get some things fixed on it and start to enjoy it.
There will be more info and pictures later but I need to get up and start my day. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
I know exactly how you feel, its always the case for me it seems
I drool over these cars that are not really in my budget or practical, but in typical fashion I jump in head first anyways and hope for the best
just replaced the valve cover gaskets and got the intake pulled to replace the oil pressure switch ( need to get a chrome 27 to pull it I only have 27 in impact and it is to thick) while the intake is up I noticed that the gaskets need replaced and it needs a pcv elbow. So hopefully by the end of the day it will be all put back together. I also got a new pcv valve and air filter.
Later on if there is time in the day I want to try the abs stalled motor fix because those lights will drive me insane on the dash.
Other than that the intake manifold is still a stock ls1 even tho I was hopeful that it might have a ls6 mani on it.
Car is now ready for inspection except for a outer tie rod that I already bought it just needs installed and aligned. The car is originally from California is there much different between federal and Cali emissions on a 99
Sorry I have not gotten some real pics up yet between working on the car and work in general I have not had much time to get things cleaned up and ready for pics.
As of right now other than getting all the fluids changed I only have a few more things to get fixed
Alignment
Inspect clean and dielectric grease all the grounds
Adjust wiper arms
Fix air bag light
Adjust/aim headlights
Work on the paint (needs lots of swirl remover)
Find out whi front brakes are squealing (pads and rotors appear to be new)
Congrats on a fine looking Corvette. Happy you finally got one that works for you. Here is wishing many happy miles/smiles with your new baby. Greetings, Rob
So I finally got some time to wash the car and find a decent place to snap a couple pics. The big white things in the background of the pics are wind mill blades. They are huge up close you definitely wouldn't expect them to be so big just seeing them while driving down the road.
