Default Door Sill Protection?

My new to me '04 has the paint rubbed off on an edge in the driver's door sill so was thinking of getting some type of cover. Have seen a couple available but none with any installed pictures.

Sooooo....requesting pictures of door sill protectors.

Would like to know how long these are?
Is the OEM rubber stick-on removed prior to installing?

What have you guys done?

Thanks in advance.

I didn't care for the look of any of the pre-made sill protectors. I had a local shop wrap the sill with a clear material like 3M's Clear Bra.

It's there, it works and you never see it!

Good Luck whatever you decide!

I would try lightly spray painting (lots of masking) or touch up.

I have the slip over sill protecters, black with "CORVETTE" in white letters on them. No adhesive, easy to remove, but stay in place. Effective and inexpensive. I just saw these advertised on this forum in the last few days or so, you should be able to find it easily and give them a looksee. Best wishes!

I agree they aren't the best look...but that doesn't matter when it come to protection. I have them in both cars. Every day is not a car show for me so I remove them and the clear floor mats when I do go to a show. My Sills and Floor mats still look brand new when I uncover them for a show.

I installed these when I bought the car 15 years ago and added LEDs. Still look like new...

I had the ones like jdvann pictured except mine were clear with black Corvette lettering.

I noticed that the protector was leaving marks on the paint from rubbing. There must be some slight vibration or shifting of the protector. I took mine off since the protector was causing damage.

I think most people have better luck than me.

That's the type I have, only mine are the clear ones with black lettering. They fit very well, no need to remove anything and they really protect the sill area.

I also discovered you need to remove them when you are washing your car as water bleeds under and probably carries sand and dirt with them...
