It's why C5's are priced as much as C6's.
They changed to the common FOB in '05

The Owners Manual is a wonderful thing, it should be read more often.

Hopefully retraining the FOB to the car will do the trick. If it still doesn't work, does your tire pressure sensors work?

97-2000 are FLOBs
01-2004 are FOBs
The FLOBs and FOBs CAN NOT be swapped...except you can FLOB for FLOB but NOT FLOB or FOB...or FOB FOR FOB but NOT FOB for FLOB...

Once you have the cover apart, check the clamp that holds the battery in place.
Look closely and you will see the clamp has two small solder points (one on either side of the clamp.)
If these are broken, the fob will not work.
I know, and upon investigation, that was the case with my key fob.
Once I soldered them again, it works fine.
Bob.
