I get a lot of people that typically positive comments about my car. I believe it's largely because of the color, as it's fairly uncommon to see a metallic light blue Corvette - even in C6 JSB and C7 LBT colors, and especially in C5 Nassau Blue. I will also say that having a '99 model is a very redeeming quality. Most individuals when I tell them the car is 17 years old can't believe it, and the ones that do know it's that old are quick to say it looks great for it's age.
I too am quick to say that it's a great time to get into a C5 and that they can be had for well under $15,000 if you wait and look. You only live once.
Happens to me frequently as well. Then again it's rare to see any two Corvettes together outside of a show, so most people don't keep up with the various body styles.
Was coming out of IHOP and heard a family talking about my 04. Kid wanted to know how fast it was, mother said she wished she had what it cost. Told them it was cheap compared to a boat or plane. They then got into an Escalade. Wish I had what they paid for it.

That's funny... I hear that more than the "is it new" most think your driving a 50k dollar car...hehe
