Default Speaker grills

Is there a special way to remove the front and rear speaker grills on a coupe?

Since no one has replied yet, I'll take a stab. I'm sure others will follow with more detailed replies.

I've never looked at the rear speakers, but the front speakers are held in because the speaker mesh has a few tabs that fold behind the door panel. The door panel is held in by plastic tension fasteners. You can pry them out, but due to age they could be a little brittle by now. It wouldn't hurt to have some extras on hand in case you break any. Anyway, once the door panel is off, you can unbend the speaker-grill tabs and remove the speaker grill from the door. That's really the easiest part. No tools needed.

Do a search for speaker install or door panel removal and you should come up with detailed steps and probably with pictures as well.

^^^^ The rears (it's been a while) the plastic housing just pops off, BUT you have to take off the Halo trim piece first, and the speaker housing has the supports running though them so you have to take the supports loose and have help or support your lid in some fashion. you also have to pull carpet back. I hope I didn't forget anything, like I said it's been a while and I don't have any how to docs for the rears !!!!! Good Luck (not real hard but time consuming)

So I guess the rear grill doesn't just pop out....
I just want to work with the grill, not the speakers.

The rear speaker grills can be popped off pretty easily on the coupe. I just had mine off the other weekend. There is no need to remove the entire plastic interior piece to get them off. I believe I pushed down on the top edge and it deforms slightly so you can work it off. I also seem to remember there being a tab or two that alight the bottom of the grill with the housing it attaches too.

I've used a 90 degree scribe hooked into a hole along the edge and gently pulled it out of the plastic housing on the rears before. Worked pretty good. Fronts are like stated earlier. Need to remove the door panel for those.
