It's been mentioned a couple of times that gas leaf blowers exhaust in the same direction as their air output, and since they are usually 2-cycle engines, there is a possibility of oil droplets being deposited on the finish. What's your experience with this, guys?
No issues with that on mine. I wipe it down afterwards anyways because the blower gets most of the big stuff but it breaks down the water into tiny beadlets that need to be wiped down after anyways. I think my 2 stroke shoots the exhaust backwards.

I cannot speak to all makes, but mine does not exhaust in the same direction that the fan blows air.
It is something that should be considered.
Another option is to fire up the air compressor and use a blow gun, but while that is better for door handles and side mirrors, it is not as good for large areas.
I like the idea on the dedicated machine for drying off cars, but the price is just too high to justify it. Plus, that is just another gadget that I have to store and storage space is at a premium in my garage.

I'm at work and looking online, but I think mine's a Poulan 25cc
The exhaust thing is kinda making me think though. I might check it when I get home. If it does shoot exhaust out the front I'd maybe find a way to just tunnel it to the side or something. It could be a possibility that they'd route the exhaust straight down the pipe, but I know that the air coming out of the tube is usually cold. I'll look when I get home just to check.
Stihl here, both their electric and 2 cycle. I've never seen oil on the finish, but I don't like the exhaust smell in the car when I do the interior. The electric for that!

Never a problem with mine, but the exhaust is in the rear.
Been using electric LB for years too, and compressor. Great for three piece wheels/calipers, dripping mirrors, any place where water hides. Great time saver.

My back pack leaf blower has the exhaust on the engine. That said the exhaust is behind my back and the nozzle blowing the air is well out in front of me. I don't see any issue with exhaust getting anywhere near the car.
Washed my car last night. After reading the posts in the car washing thread recently I decided to try the leaf blower method of getting the water off.
My car has a good coat of wax and a recent coat of detailing spray. So the surface is nice and slippery. I have a backpack leaf blower so I gave it a try. Damn...........the water just rolls right off. Any little bit left was easily handled by a microfiber towel.
This is now my go to method of drying the car. Easy as can be. Just need to be careful with the nozzle of the blower, not to touch the car.
please can you suggest me. I've just order the Hitachi RB24EAP and its on gas http://jonsguide.org/best-hitachi-leaf-blower/. Can it be used for car washing? We are planing to perform Express car washing and I really dont like if it will affect customer car paint

It is a 2 stroke, so there will be the remnants of the burnt fuel/oil mixture floating around in the air. Electric would be cleaner.
just be careful with gas powered blowers, you don't want to be blowing oil fumes across your paint. I have been using an electric leaf blower for years.
I agree, I use electric to avoid the oil and gas in the air stream.
I also covered the front 3" of my nozzle with heat shrink just in case.
