So I walk into my garage and see some dust on my black Corvette...out comes the California duster and then a little spray car wax to finish the job. Looks a little greasy after doing half the car I check the label only to my shock it was Simonize tire shine. Wipe it down with clean water and then apply the real spray wax. Looks okey but now I am worried about the paint..checked on line and they suggest it will be fine. I am too tired now to wash the car (after detailing with tire shine) Anyone know if the paint will be okey?? PS Happy Fathers Day

the car will melt by the morning... I highly doubt it will do any harm especially since you caught it and washed it off and the car did not sit out in the sun
Tire shine products get oversprayed on painted surfaces all the time. Wheels, engine bays, fender wells etc all get some on their paint. It won't hurt your baby's finish.
We used to get tire shine overspray on the paint in our detail shop often----just part of getting them cleaned up sometimes. Not a big deal---Just use some detail spray over those area's.
If for some reason it does not come clean (which it should) you can use a soapy mixture of dawn detergent, wash just the area's where you had the silicone on then re-wax, as the dawn will strip all of the wax off in that area.
Just an update and thanks to all who responded. Well I have to say the Corvette never shined like that before, had a chap in a high end AMG Mercedes hit the brakes and backed up to compliment me on my Corvette. We chatted for 5 min and had a good laugh on my detailing misadventure. Looks like the Corvette will survive to see another day and I made a new gear head friend. All is well.
