I don't get all these defensive responses. Go back and watch again and put on your listening ears. He was actually quite respectful of the C5 and noted most of its attributes. He did make harmless fun of some C5 owners, mostly mid-lifers just emerging from their mini vans and Corollas. As well as all the stick-on and blingie trinkets that seem to find there way all over these things. Is the C5 community that insecure? Not everyone has the same opinion of every car. What a dull world that would be. This is a great forum and was even mentioned, if not by name, as a great source for maintaining the C5. I would hope this forum is a place for enthusiasts and not just a mutual admiration society.
Chill out my brothers,
He pretty much hits the nail on the head on alot of things. I sense some butt hurt in this thread.
The stereotype/collector car bits are 100% true, You go to any car show and youll see it lol. C5 owners seem to be a bulk of these stereotypes for some reason.

Chill out my brothers,
I can only speak for myself, but I don't think most of the responses are defensive insofar as they simply disagree. I just read a first drive review of the new C7 Grandsport and the comments in the comment section were filled with responses of how "gaudy" the car is among other less than charitable responses. In the Regular Car review of the C5 (and other corvettes) he speaks at length about Corvette's struggle for respect. As I said before, I don't see it in real life. That doesn't mean the Corvette or C5 in particular is the only respectable sports car. But it does mean that I personally think the Corvette's struggle with getting respect is more a media creation than actual reality.

watched the vid, thought it was funny, having a sense of humor is a good thing.
as for me, for the 9 months i owned my C5, most people who saw it thought it was a pretty amazing car, honestly there just is not a lot of corvettes around in my area, see very few out and about...not many c5s.
one friend called my car: "my fancy car".
when people heard i owned a corvette, you could see their eyes sort of light up, it's a dream car for many people.
when i was having fender damage repaired, one of the techs moaned and groaned about how low it was, and the guy was short -i thought that was funny, guess he loved his high sitting trucks.
i was amazed when i would park it at the store next to all the SUVs people drive, they just dwarfed the car..
and the stares by people when you drive by, always put a smile on my face...
i know some folks on the forum would say a 345hp engine isn't fast, but compared to 98% of the cars out there, i'm pretty sure the lowly c5 blows most of them away in speed...
Funny, much of it true, some not so much. Wish he were right about ALL OEM PARTS still being available!
As far as being a "collectable"... if that means it is not yet valued by that group of alcoholics at the auctions with more money than brains, I can live with that! Most of the "classics" those idiots bid hundreds-of-thousands on, I would not even pull in my garage if it was raining!
