My Michelin Pilot Sports are almost 12 years old and have got to be replaced. That particular tire is no longer available, so what are you guys using on your C5's?

I'm running a set of Hankook Ventus V12s on my car. Non runflats and a very good overall tire. Plus the price is certainly affordable.

Super Sports in Vette sizes are near impossible to get. 295/35-18 have been out of production for more than six months, at least. I just installed Conti Extreme DW's. Only driven on once so far they're that new. My initial impression is quiet, ride smooth on broken pavement, stable at highway speed, happy so far. Reasonable price. I run 265/35-18 front and 295/35-18 rear, they look good and sit a little fatter on my wheels than my last tires. Around $900 delivered from Discount Tire.

MY stock ride was bought used with Kumhos on it, they grip well and are quiet. PLus the name is always fun.

I don't have enough knowledge to recommend tires, but the Kumho brand is a major player in the market, my alignment guy likes them from his track work, and they just brought out a new tire in the stock C5 sizes. I think they describe it as a value performance tire . I think they made a run flat for the C5 back when they were new, but didn't sell well. Now are making some light factory tires for vipers.

I like Michelin, but know realistically that a new design from a competitive company will be enough tire for this old man. they don't spend the money to bring a new product to market to have it run mid pack, and tire construction methods are well known by now. . Of course why be realistic with a pleasure car?

I am also considering goodyears, because of consistently good product and I like the blimp.

Like i said at first, not qualified.

I have the BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2's in stock sizes. I bought them from Discount tire direct .com for around $650 shipped during a special event back in March. They have very good dry and wet traction. I also recommend Nitto 555 Extreme and Kumho Ecsta from previous experience.

Thanks everyone. I have decided on Michelin AS+. They are run flat (I'm paranoid about getting a flat) and the tread design is very similar to what I had

For what it's worth, in over 40k miles of driving in the boonies (note that I mean BFE, as in, over 40k miles of driving with zero or near zero cell phone reception, extremely low population density, very few towns) I have never gotten a flat. Hell, I've never gotten a flat ever, but where it really matters, I've still never gotten a flat. Not on the alaska highway, not on roads marked "not patrolled at night," not in deserts in the summer, not in mountains in the winter. Hell, not even off-road on tires and in a car that don't belong off-road. Still no flats. Not even when I accidentally worse some tires down to the belts, still no flats.

Of course flats happen, but I carry a plug kit and an air compressor and slime (as a last-ditch resort - slime is terrible.) Anything that ain't sidewall, or a big gash, is fixable. Anything where you have cell phone reception isn't a problem, it's just an inconvenience.

I've considered using run-flats for my road trips, but the more I drive, the less I worry.

With that said, the michelin run-flats are considered to be as non-terrible as runflats get!

I am 65 and also never had a flat (always drove with good tires) if you think I didn't drive any where I did maintenance for a Construction Co. for many years and put over 200,000 on 4 different pickups !!!!! (I run non-run flats on my vette)

When I bought my 01 a year ago, it came with Sumitomo tires. They actually handle very nicely in turns, ride is comfortable and no issues. I'm probably going with them again within the next few months. Price? Less than $500 all the way around. I don't worry about flats either, that's why I have a AAA card.

I run Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports in the C5 Z06 size. You can still get the C5 Z06 size in the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A from Tires Plus and the RE760 Sports from Tire Rack; good bang for the buck IMO.

In the last 10 years or so, I have had a number of punctures - mostly slow leaks which I fixed with plugs, but a couple of total failures (on my other car) due to potholes in winter which were filled with snow, so I didn't see them. My previous set of tires had probably 2-3 plugs in each tire by the time they were done. Mostly nails and screws which I put down to visiting Lowes, HD, etc., though the last one I know I picked up at the local Autozone - it was an automotive trim screw and the pressure started to drop on my way home.

I regularly drive on some scary roads - I81 and I70, both of which have become cowboy truckers' racetracks, so I stick with r/f's so I don't have to try to deal with a flat on the shoulder, with the risk of being wiped out that entails. May sound dramatic, but in the last 3 weeks there have been three fatals on I81 within 10 miles of my exit.
