I pulled up to a Mustang this morning that sounded very nice. Pretty loud, but not obnoxious sounding. I have an appreciation for other cars as well so I asked him what exhaust he had and he said, "Corsa" The entire exhaust on the Mustang was stock, no headers, no X pipe, etc. I've heard Corsa's on Corvettes and honestly my Borla's have more volume and deeper tone in my opinion. The Mustang was a 2015. I'm curious why the Corsa's sound that good on a Mustang and not Corvettes? Larger pipe? Less restriction? Would love to have my car sound like his.
the one thing mustangs have over the corvettes is the sound......with the right exhaust they might be one of the BEST SOUNDING cars around
I love that low , grunt, almost hollow, echoey sound...hard to explain it but seems that mustang does it the best
The best sounding exhaust on a C5 is B&B bullets, at least that's my opinion
Corsas are so hyped up and overplayed here on the forums, and to me they don't even sound all that good
Ben running the B&B Bullets for three or four years on my 02 vert. Also run the Corsa's on my 12 CTS V Cadillac. They both sound great to the only one that matters. Me.
Your learn something everyday. I appreciate the info! I'm not going to complain about the sound of Corvettes, however, it's my opinion that it doesn't do the car justice without some rumble coming from the pipes. Before buying the exhaust system on my car, I listened to several Corvettes, several combinations of exhaust and researched to find the right system, and they all sounded very close. I ended up getting a set of Borla Stingers which I felt sounded good considering my system is stock with the exception of the Stingers. Since I'm in CA, I don't want to mess with headers or high flow cats and deal with smog inspections every 2 years. I'm thinking about installing a Borla X pipe, not for sound, but to allow the exhaust to flow a little better than pushing through a 1/2" hole on the original H pipe. I actually thought my Corvette sounded pretty decent, until I pulled up next to this Mustang. Anyone in here put a Coyote motor in their C5? LOL....
Man, I have to agree on the Mustang sound, just wicked sounding. On C5's I Have bullets by B&B, love 'em and gets lots of compliments on the sound. Not putting Corsa's down, just a different sound. Exhaust sound preference is such a personal thing, so, whatever trips your trigger! Take care all!
While I agree that the Mustangs sound nice, let me tell you a short story. My C5 has a lot of mods and a lot of HP (lots of others have way more than me, I was at 580/580 at the time) with a really nasty sounding idle (running some Flowmasters). Last summer I was turning into my neighborhood, waiting for the light to change. Had all my windows down and a Mustang (with all his windows down) pulled up beside me and looked over. I glanced at him and I could see him checking out the Vette. After a moment, he says "Man, you car sure sounds amazing!" I responded with "Thanks, it's a lot of car for an old man like me..." then the light changed and we went our ways. To be honest, my idle basically drowns out any other cars nearby. It kinda says you'd better think twice. I think its possible that Mustang guys might be a little envious of our exhaust note. Or not... that guy liked mine though.

I thought yours sounded really wicked the other day...bad azz...
Mustangs sound the way they do because of fireing order and head design. The shape of the ports and the fact that they have 4 valves per cylinder has a lot to do with it.
Personally I think the ls sounds better than fords small block.
