Default Cooling mods

Thinking of doing the Dewitt's radiator and fans with the lg oil cooler on my c5z. It's extremely hot here in southern LA during the summer and my car got a bit hotter than I'd like it to cruising Saturday.

Anybody have before and after temps with these mods on their cars?

Mines an auto 383 with a sc, before Dewitt's it would hit 235 and keep climbing if driven hard no ac on (yes fans have been reprogrammed) after Dewitt's and separate trans cooler it never goes over 215 with ac on driven hard in Florida heat 95* plus

Saturday when cruising with my AC on it got up to around 215. It was 90 degrees outside and it was a cool day compared to a normal day in southern LA. I just don't want to get caught in traffic and it keep climbing

You do know you can put in a 160 degree stat and have the fans reprogrammed and do some serious cooling... IF everything else is working properly and CLEAN

We did and the car runs 187 most of the time... 100+ degree days and some high humidity...we do not drive much in the city, but when we have it hasn't go over 205...

My radiator is clean, replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree and with a ECS tune have the fans come on earlier. We don't have the temps you do here in Michigan but we have our share of 90 plus days. Mine runs at 190 almost always, got stuck in a 20 mile traffic jam Saturday(less than 20 mph for an hour), and it went to 192 !!!!!

Car has a 160 thermostat, fans are programmed properly. Radiator is clean and my car is h/c/I about 11.5:1 compression. And it stays 90+ majority of the time between mid May till mid September and we always have high humidity.

The 160* stat comes up a lot, I have yet to see anyone explain how if temps are well over 200* in traffic how this increases the cooling capacity of radiator, pretty sure both would be wide open at that point. I think it may come from the drag guys who can turn there car off to allow motor to get cool enough to go below factory stat and stay open/open sooner? It seems to me if you are running long enough to stay above 200* it would do nothing?

Might have mentioned that to start with

Put a Dewitts radiator in a 454 73 corvette notorious for overheating and it never got over 190 again

Yea sorry should've mentioned that earlier.

It got hotter than I'd like for cruising. I just don't want to get caught in traffic and overheat.

A while ago, I experienced high temps and had done nothing to the coolant system, decided to go to work on it.

New radiator cap, new hoses, new water pump, new lower temp t-stat, fresh flush, pulled and cleaned the radiator, new overflow tank and that's about it.

Runs now between 175 and 195 depending on traffic. Always 90 degrees plus down here in the summer.
