I have a nail in the sidewall. Not leaking air but also know they will not repair it. (it is near the g in goodyear)
Now that said do I have to replace both rear tires or can I get only one? The tread does look not old. Was thinking it might through off ABS or active handling being new versus used
measure the tread depth of "good" one..
Compare that to the new tire spec tread depth.
That will tell you if you can have a mixed pair.
Also, how old are the rear tires and mileage on them ?????

Unsure on age or mileage as they look new when I bought the car from the dealer

If you can't find a replacement tire and/or the other good tire is not like new, then I would get two new back tires. Not sure I would want to mix brands on the same axle.
On my first set of tires, GY run flats. I had a large nail, some might call it a spike go through the tread and out the side wall. I removed it without a leak. I Continue with that tire till the tread was done. It was a rear tire. In my case I did not have a problem. I am not telling you it is the thing to do. I do not know how you drive you car.
For best results it is recommended to replace tires in pairs, but if the tire is hardly worn, you can get by with buying only one.
It depends..........
Back when my C-5 was fairly new, had maybe 200-2500 miles on it, I ran over some debris, and cut the LR tire, right where the tread meets the sidewall. The cut went right into the cords, tire was junk.
Thinking that with only 2500 miles on the car, I should be OK, so I only replaced the one tire. I was OK..............for a while. About 4-5000 miles later, I get out of the car at work, and smell hot gear oil.
Apparently, the two tires, although both Goodyear Eagle RFs, wore at different rates, and the two rears had become different enough in OD, that the posi unit was unhappy......

Just thought I'd toss this into the discussion.
Interesting. Personally I would replace the tires in pairs on my Corvette. Over the years I have bought one tire to replace a bad tire on daily drivers and don't recall having any trouble.

Unless they had a limited slip axle, you probably didn't....
I'm running the Bridgestone re760s on all 4 corners and I really enjoy them. You could buy two back tires for the price of one good year and call it a day

My wife's Volt picked up a screw in the side wall. The GY dealer would not repair it and wanted $200 for a new tire . The damaged tire only had 12K miles on it and I hated the idea of buying a new tire. I found a mom & pop shop that patched the side wall from the inside. That was 2 years ago and about 15K miles. Just food for thought.
Goodyear makes more than 1 Goodyear Eagle F1. Can you tell us which ones you have? GS-D3, Supercar, Asymmetric, EMT Run Flat...
Original tread depth of most of these tires was 10 - 11/32nd's when new. Measure the tread depth of your rear tires, the good one in particular, and compare it to the tread depth of a new one.
If the depth is within 1-2 /32nds you'll probably be okay with one new tire. Also check the age of the tires. If they are more than 4-5 years old, you'll be better off replacing both regardless of the tread depth.
For some reason, they would not fix this one. Tread was low on good tire, so I got two new ones.
Looks like something similar to what happened to me wife. She ran over a bungee cord that was laying in the road. The hook bit into the tire, and blew it out. HOWEVER, it apparently stuck into the tire, for a while, and became a pinwheel, doing a real number on the quarter panel, before she got it stopped.....

You realize, that's both unsafe AND illegal, RIGHT?????
