The Elite Engineering tunnel plate solved the majority of my heat problems. I also insulated the console area with Dyno mat. Between these two modifications the heat problem was greatly reduced, even the wife noticed the difference!

It takes about 20-30 mins to remove both front seats, center console, carpet and kick plate trim on these cars. Rip it out and insulate it.

I used one roll of frost King on the tunnel and 80mil sound deadening on the rest of the entire interior. I also purchased a ceramic coated tunnel plate. Cut down on heat considerably.

FIRST off the Forum Search Function is JUNK! GOOGLE it!
You will usually get several options that way some for the Corvette forum, LS1, Digital Corvettes and other sources...
It doesn't hurt for everyone to hear it again...it's the same questions sometimes but, it's good to hear fresh answers...
It takes some time to learn the LS1 and all the issues and how to deal with them... and how to navigate the forum...

Search function on this board has always worked well, Google is a better option for sure.

Was a search in the C5 section for "console heat' and it brought up 13 threads of info.

No idea why it quit working.

I just run the A/C floor setting and its nice and cool even with the top removed and 90+ degree heat.

I do have to admit that I did not use the search before adding my post to this thread. Typically I do at least try to find info before and I was in this post so I was searching instead of starting my own about the same thing... regardless... this forum's search is probably the worst of all the forums I've used. That being said, sometimes my lack of patience gets the better of me.


I do appreciate everyone's help here.
