Quick question- I'm not much of a DIY but going to install a CAI and step one is get the MAF sensor out. I removed the gray locking clip but the unit/sensor won't budge. Am I missing something? I'm assuming the entire black housing slides off but sure hesitant to pry at it etc., especially if there is a method you guys have used that works well. Thanks.. (02 Z)
Not sure if this will help, the Factory Service Manual says:
1. Disconnect the electrical connector of the MAF/IAT sensor.
2. Remove the air intake duct clamps from the MAF/IAT sensor and the throttle body.
3. Remove the air duct clamp at the air cleaner housing.
4. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor.
I missed the "squeeze" and pull part.I really got into the "pull" part. I ll get the grey clip out again. Seems to come out easy. Then I'll squeeze accordingly. Maybe according to: (lol thanks)
Well, once I realized the "squeeze" meant right on top or the tab exposed when you removed the locking clip it came out with ease.... I'm no DIY guy but I should not need to spend 125 bucks to have a dealer put on a Blackwing- now I don't. THANKS!!

CAI does not sit perfectly flat but I don't thin the stock box did either... No codes before or after. However there is not much clearence for the airway and the hood liner... Dang, I did an LMC5 and a CAI. On a 1-10 mechanical scale I may of made "2".... (Now I have to go clean up those hoses)

Well done... Wrench You can change your username to that, if you'd like I think it fits you now!
Does the car still run?

Why yes it does-thank you! With no codes. I'm sure I also picked up 20 HP and probably 5 more when I detail that engine bay a bit better (lol). If you need any advice, I'll be around.

I'm doing the same CAI and already cleaned the hoses, at least 6HP
Thanks... Looks like the Chadwick's tire dressing will spiff up the hoses but I drove her this morning after the install. One thing I noticed- these babies stay hot for a long time! Can't detail the hood or much less touch the hoses for hours... Not sure what that green crap is but I'm sure that hose was there in 2002.
