Thank you. We have a Chevy mechanic looking at it today. We did remove the metal casing to the BCM and no oxidation was found on the board. I'm an electronic engineer and know how to clean boards and it did not help. Not to mention the board was fairly clean to begin with. I understand it's not a plug and play device but I'm not sure what other options we have. I suggested the FOBs creating the software issue only because it's possible there was malware or something that could have gotten into the software to mess it up. Again I'm an engineer so any kind of "computer" can be affected by malware or viruses or even hacked and because we've tried everything that's been suggested the only other option I can forsee is software, which is why we have a mechanic looking into it today for us. Thank you all for your advice. It's been super helpful and we wouldn't have gotten this far without it!!!
Just pull the FUSE to see if it electrical or mechanical. I find it hard to believe to be a mechanical issue because BOTH latches are releasing at the same time.
Like previously stated, " Weck86 " I would start at the trunk release switch/button to make sure its not the issue. If nothing else, just disconnect it and see if the trunk stays SHUT!
YES, the BCM could be malfunctioning and telling the trunk release mechanisms to release on it own. I would eliminate everything ELSE before I replaced the BCM.
If you pull fuse #32, it will disable the trunk button.
