Default Stock radio / CD question

Just purchased my first Vette, 2004 stock C5, loving it already. Have only had it out for few rides due to work hours...stock GM radio is what it is, but will not play a CD when inserting in the radio head. Accepts the cd, but after a few seconds, message of "ERR" appears and kicks out the cd. Tried several, doesn't make difference if it's a store bought or burned. Tried the 12 disc cartridge in the trunk, which would work, except only the rear speakers would play, no sound in the door or sub, which was really strange. Emptied the cartridge, and for several times turning the radio on, no power to the front speakers, then started working, except now makes clicking sound from pass. side speaker when first turned on. I hate listening to radio stations, just wish I could play at least the single cd in radio.....radio head going or am I doing something wrong??, the manual didn't help out either. Thanks !!

Try Google and input "c5 cd err". There were quite a few threads like the one below

Not sure if this matters or not but thought I would mention it. My 04 has all the original stereo equipment in it. My radio does not have the slot for a single cd because I have the 12 disc changer also. My thought is maybe your car has the wrong radio in it if you also have the 12 disc changer. Maybe you should not have the radio head that excepts single disc.

Thanks Ronin.......looks like I will try the multiple insertion method ( radio **** ? ), learn to tolerate radio commercials, or go after-market.

Nope... our 2004 has the 12 disc changer AND the single disc in the OEM HU...

The OEM HU for cds and fm pretty much sucks... but the good news with a plug and play speaker upgrade... I suggest Polk audio, Alpine, or Kicker... and this, it plugs in where you 12 disk changer is...you don't even have to remove the radio...
Peripheral PXDP PXHGM2 Chevrolet Corvette 97-04 iPod Adapter
and this...
Aluratek - 30-Pin Bluetooth Audio Receiver

You will have Bluetooth, Ipod, Pandora, etc... and keep the OEM look... it sounds much better than the "stock" system...

SOUND DEADENING the trunk space and the REAR WHEEL WELLS is HUGE.................................... ........................................ ...
I did all mine with Frost King from lowes

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tion-pics.html

This is the only thing that doesn't LOOK stock in our 04 6spd vert
The other end of that adapter and cord plugs in where the 12 disc changer is... I just ran the cord under the carpet and drilled a hole in the console and put a grommet in it to look finished and factory...

IF you have the 12 disc changer... IF you don't , the cable just plugs into the back of the OEM radio... it's not a big deal to get it out...
but, MUCH simpler if you have the 12 disc changer...

Is the RPO code on the glove box a U1S and UNO?

IF you have the 12 disc changer then NO you do NOT have to pull the radio... no write up, there is really nothing to write up...it's a plug and play..."it's so simple, even a cave man could do it"

http://shop.doubledmods.com/Corvette...l-kits_c48.htm

This pic shows the adapter in between the CD Changer and the adapter cord that I ran to the console and plugged the 30 pin Bluetooth receiver on...I used some velcro to attach it to the bottom of the CD Changer to keep it out of the way...

You can see here is where I ran the cord under the carpet, on the drivers side, up to the console

Sweet. Thanks 73. I haven't bought the adapter, but was planning on doing so in the next week or so and tearing the inside apart.... this isn't even going to take a full cup of coffee to put in.

Any issues with that BT receiver you got? I am going to order the adapter today from DD and the BT from Amazon.

No sir not one problem... it does get a little toasty in the console but, it's never been an issue for several thousands of miles and smiles...

I got no plan on using the 30 pin connector so I might just leave the whole deal in the rear compartment with the BT piece. I am assuming there wont be an issue streaming 6 feet. Will advise, just pumped to be getting this crossed off the mod list!!!!

Done and done and it works great! Why I waited so long to do this is beyond me! The range is great on the BT receiver too!

Took about 3 minutes to install too
