I purchased a near-mint 99 FRC in December. Treated me well in SoCal for 6 months until this summer. In June I was rear ended which ricocheted my car to car in front. I just got a Borla Type-2 exhaust two weeks prior which took most of the impact. Exhaust shop realigned for good price.
Then last week a driver in the turning lane turned directly in front of me while I was driving 30-35 mph. He had both earbuds in his ears (which is illegal in CA btw) talking on the phone. My insurance, Esurance, told me it was 100% his fault.
Question: will my car likely be totaled? I'm currently waiting for the insurance adjuster to inspect the damages on Wednesday.
Would it be possible to take exhaust without taking the whole car? Although a Corvette shop in the area, J&D Corvette, told me they may be interested in buying the car if I took it.
Without a look to see the passenger side front it is difficult to tell if it is a for sure total or not. My best guess is that the car is a total from an insurance companies perspective.
I would deal with my own insurance company and let them go after/deal with the other party insurance. Your company will most likely be easier to get a fair settlement from than the other one. JMHO Other company is going to want to low ball you on the value of the car to get away as cheaply as possible.
Passenger-side front fender isn't cracked, but it has shifted out of place (up and outward).
Luckily, we both have Esurance so dealing with this accident has been easier than the claim in June.
That's a bummer, I worry about it every time I drive.
I've been extra cautious after I was rear-ended; checking drivers behind if they're glued to their phones. In LA, sadly it's customary for drivers to be on their phones even though cops will issue tickets.
Side note: only in the Vette have I been nearly hit countless times; i.e., merging into my lane, cutting me off, etc. Yes it's a low vehicle, but it's bright red! Had an S2000 and it wasn't this bad. I can't imagine how motorcycles feel.
I had a very similar crash several months ago with my then 2009 Ls3 with 24000miles on it...he hit a little further back, but didn't look as bad as yours....they did total...I got about 5K more than I paid and they did credit me for headers , exhaust and other lite performance mods. I wound up buying a 2002 zo6 with a hundred K miles...this car is much tighter than my 2009 and I saved the extra 20K I would have spent for a replacement

Wow, which insurance do you have? I've been debating whether to get another FRC or Z06 C5 or C6. I just got the C6 Z06 shocks in the mail last week that I never got to install.
Yea it's Done.....Send the Exhaust to me....LOL.....Kidding..Does not look Good...Hate to see it...Glad your OK...Take the Money and Look for another Sweet vette...
