Hey everyone
Brought my car to the shop and asked to get all fluids replacements etc. Was told that the clutch fluid and bleed time was going to take a long time because of where the lines are on the 04 z06 and they had to drop the tranny??.
Does anyone have any info on doing this and some info on a remote bleeder purchase/install?
Thanks very much
It is true that the bleeder/slave is inside the torq tube housing. I have seen where it can be done without dropping the driveline but it is very hard to do. There are remote bleeders out there and the next time you do a clutch is the perfect time to install one.
The option most people use is to suck the fluid out of the reservoir and refill it with clean fluid. Then pump the pedal till the fluid is black and dirty. Then drain and refill it. Repeating this process till the fluid stays pretty clean. It can take awhile and lots of repeating the process. It does not do as good of a job but is much easier and will clean it out a lot.

Okay great thanks that helps a lot! I watched a few vids of that actually so I'm totally going to do that. Appreciate it
the biggest problem with the "ranger method" is its almost impossible to get all the fluid out of the lines...you will get a good amount out but never all of it...trust me i know i did the "ranger method" for 2 years before i installed a remote bleeder
Does an 01z have the same issues with changing this fluid as 04s?

1 questions, I have a inherited a garage queen with only 40k on it. Clutch seems fine, and not sticking. While the fluid is 20+ years old should i worry about changing this if it doesnt give me any problems? Would the ranger trick work for me? I imagine doing a bleed with a mechanic would be costly?

I wouldn't worry unless you want to do the ranger method for your own records.

Yes, this is simple and not hard to do.
