Default Glue question

My 03 Anniversary has a cracked vane in the drivers door air vent. Little things like that bug the hell out of me. The vent itself is no longer available from GM. I ordered the part number that the Dealer gave me and when the vent came in it was black, not shale colored.

My question is, has anyone tried the glue that they advertise on TV that uses ultra violet light to cure the repair?

If it's ABS plastic you can weld the parts back together with a solvent like acetone. Try saturating a q-tip and rub it on a place that's not visible, if the q-tip becomes black it's dissolving the plastic and it'll work; just wet both parts and hold them together for a few minutes.

Yes I have repaired several C5 (and other parts) using Bondic - it is a miracle product, but you have to do the prep right with roughing and alcohol and leave the UV light in place usually longer than they recommend. I would only use the Bondic brand personally.

Thanks, I have bought parts from Him before. He is not far from me in Tennessee and I have been to His facility. The problem I have is that the part is available from a Dealer but only in black not SHALE! All this for one little piece of plastic!

Marc, as you may know, is not a dealer - he deals in used parts from damaged Corvettes. He has a wide selection of parts and may have a shale vent - it's certainly worth a try.

Yes, I know. I have been to Marc's place for parts in the past. He does not live far from me. I did email Him but the problem is the color of the vent, it has to be from a 03 Anniversary model. Even if I buy a black one, I do not know where to get Shale Paint. I looked at Mid America and they do not have it neither does Dr Colorchip.

YESSSSS I tried the Bondic and a little scraping with a exacto knife. It looks almost as good as new. Thank you all!
